Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask Review

Hey Friends

How are you doing today? I am back again to share another skincare regimen from my kit which is a black mask from Peter Thomas Roth brand. Yes gals, guess after gel make up products the black charcoal infused beauty skin care regimen is another hot topic as we can see every big small brand coming up with their respective charcoal products in market. And Peter Thomas Roth is another brand to jump in the bandwagon; though the brand has big name in beauty world for their effective acne treatment products apart from their anti-ageing products in market. I have personally tried this brand quite few times and while I love their efficient results on my weird skin type; but their formula containing parabens often deterred me from getting them again. However I am glad this time their black mask contains no parabens, sulfates and phthalates thankfully. But that does not mean it is a 100% natural product as it does have loads of chemicals which could have been avoidable. Anyways let’s read on more about Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask!

Price: $58 for 5.0 Oz, excludes shipping & taxes

What it is:

A purifying, decongesting, and hydrating mask with odorless Irish moor mud to draw out dirt, oil, and impurities as it infuses skin with moisture and vitamins.

What it is formulated to do:

With the highest level of organic content in the world, 9,000 year-old black moor mud is harvested by hand from the Irish countryside. Rich in nutrients, essential minerals, and potent antioxidants, it helps protect against skin damage. Black hijiki seaweed provides vital nutrition and hydration as volcanic ash helps revitalize and detoxify skin. Activated charcoal has a magnetic effect that draws impurities and toxins from congested pores. It minimizes the look of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles, leaving skin looking pure, fresh, moisturized, and radiant.

My Experience with Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask:

The black mask comes in huge tub packaging with safety cap; I miss the lid beneath cap though. It does have subtle fragrance which is way mild to be taken into consideration or concern. Personally I would have liked slightly more hygienic packaging but considering the almost slimy sticky texture of mask I see that tub packaging is most suitable. I think it is travel pack and/or jumbo 5 Oz tub is definitely travel friendly as the product does not have pouring consistency to accidentally spill; it is so sticky and thick to stay in place even if we keep the jar inverted for several hours.

Coming to the mask, it is really slimy or say sticky in texture with soft granules in their formula. They are way too mild to deliver any scrubbing or invigorating effect as per my experience. I mean I find it quite thick yet so wet, slimy in nature which never dries up like usual masks. It might be tricky while applying and washing off skin. In fact it does not dry like usual charcoal masks on our skin even after hours. It needs to be rinsed off with slight rubbing with warm water.

I usually start with clean dry face and slather it on my skin and it just sticks to my skin with no fall outs and/or drying effect. It looks the same slimy, wet mask even after 20-25 minutes, hence I need to keep tab of 10-15 minutes to wash it off my face as per instructions. Initially I do feel a bit tingling and cooling sensation which normally subsides within 4-5 minutes and the sensation may be more on acne prone or acne skin I guess. I say so because there are times when my skin is zits free and then the mask never feels tingling to me, whereas using it on my blemished skin often results mild tingling. And the reason is unknown to me as I don’t see it treating or healing my blemishes other than soothing my skin. Hence I am clueless if tingling has anything to do with healing or treating scars/blemishes!

Whatsoever, so far I can see that it did refine my skin and give ample flush of hydration to my skin but I feel it will best suit dry, normal, combination skin beauties as it seems slight ineffective for acne. zits and/or black/white heads for me. To be precise, I see that it clears my complexion. For a while I feel clear skin but then it has nothing to do with clearing zits and/or black heads which remain as it is on my skin. I do see that I need comparatively lesser quantity of moisturizer than I usually use for that day plus I see it removes dry patches off my skin. That explains how hydrating and nourishing it is for our skin though I miss that invigorating effect on my skin.

It does not give me red bumpy skin post wash which is so very relieving. However, I find this property more appealing to dry, very dry skin beauties in general while I may need it in winters not now though. Moreover I have been using it twice a week after using homemade scrub and while it gives me soft skin, it has nothing much to deliver. We all know that any good mask can temporarily blur pores, even cold water splashes or simply rubbing ice on skin help to blur pores for a while so there is nothing to fancy about. Secondly, it does have certain chemicals which could have been avoided as I believe at least our skincare regimen should be as simple as possible; if not 100% natural or chemical free. Over all I find it quite hydrating and useful for dry, very dry normal skin beauties with or without problematic skin, provided you are fine with load of chemicals it comes with. Personally, I don’t think I will need it again as it is not as much useful as I thought it to be!

IMBB Rating – 3.7/5

Last Word – Well honestly I feel that it is a good mask when used in conjunction with other beauty products as it alone won’t do anything for my skin plus I need more invigorating or mildly exfoliating masks for my skin. I feel dry skin beauties will definitely like that non-stretchy and hydrating feel on their skin while using it and even after washing it off their skin while oily, combination skin beauties might need to skip it.
