My Experience with Peter Thomas Roth Mega Rich Shampoo:

Here, I am with another Peter Thomas Roth review. I have been using this shampoo for the last few weeks now. I would say that I am fairly happy with the results. Firstly, this is an expensive shampoo (it falls into the price bracket of L’Occitane, etc.) but it is NOT SLS-free. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t particularly love SLS-free shampoos, but I know that they are better (less harsh) for my hair in the long run.

Mega-Rich shampoo is a clear gel-based shampoo. It generates a good enough lather. I would not liken it to the luxurious lather of drugstore shampoos, but it isn’t bad at all. It cleans my hair very, very well. That I think is the best part about this shampoo. I use it on my hair twice over and it leaves me with a squeaky clean scalp and clean, shiny, bouncy tresses. I have used some shampoos that are quite harsh on the scalp, so initially, it will feel like they have cleaned the scalp very well, but you will see your scalp becoming oily within a day or two. I don’t have an oily scalp. It is more on the dry side and yet some harsh shampoos do that to me. However, Mega-Rich shampoo is excellent in that regard. It cleans my hair and scalp and it stays in great condition for at least three days. Of course, it may be different for people with oily scalp, but it works quite well for me (I think it would work that way on most people).

Peter Thomas Roth Shampoo 3

As far as my hair is concerned, it is long, fine and voluminous. This shampoo works well to keep it that way. It adds a healthy shine and does not cause any frizziness and doesn’t tangle up my hair either. I use it with Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Conditioner (which I will review soon) and the results are quite nice. However, I would maintain that if I have to choose between this shampoo and conditioner and the ones by L’Occitane (L’Occitane Volumising Shampoo and L’Occitane Volumising Conditioner), which I have reviewed earlier, then I will definitely pick the latter.

A quick note on the fragrance: It is a moderately fragrant shampoo. I would say the fragrance is somewhat floral. I really like it. Incidentally, it reminds me of the L’Occitane shampoo fragrance.

Pros of Peter Thomas Roth Mega Rich Shampoo:

  • Cleans the hair and scalp very well without being harsh.
  • Hair looks healthy and shiny after the wash and stays that way for a couple of days.
  • Leaves hair in a manageable condition.
  • Has a pleasant fragrance.

Cons of Peter Thomas Roth Mega Rich Shampoo:

  • Contains SLS.

My Verdict on Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Shampoo:

While I have no complaints about this shampoo and I think it does a fairly good job, I suggest that if you must spend the money, then opt for L’Occitane as far as shampoos go. They are SLS-free and do just as a good a job with your hair, if not better.
