Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Hot Stuff Heat Defence Spray Review

Hey all!

Here is a review on a product I was frantically trying to get my hands on! To be accurate, I wasn’t after Phil Smith, but I really really wanted a heat protectant spray. I have been eyeing the ones by Bumble and Bumble, but availability issues and desperation led me to Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Hot Stuff Heat Defence Spray. 😀

My Experience with Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Hot Stuff Heat Defence Spray:

The product comes in a small bottle, with a pump dispenser. It is a clear liquid that has a fresh smell to it. It absolutely reminds me of the smell I get when I get my hair done at a salon.

To use this, I divide my hair into sections and then, work on each section. About 4 – 5 pumps covers the length and thickness of each section. The amount definitely depends on an individual’s hair attributes.

I only use this on wet hair when I want to blow dry my hair. Otherwise, if I want to straighten or curl my hair, then I use it on dry hair. On both occasions, my experience has always been the same. It does a great job as a heat protectant and also gives a nice shine to my hair. I can tell this for sure because every time I’ve used a heating tool without a heat protectant on my hair, it had made my hair very hot for my fingers if I touch that portion immediately. However, when I used this spray, it wasn’t as hot as it would’ve been without the heat protectant.

Initially, it makes the hair slightly sticky but the stickiness disappears once the heating tool is used. Also, if too much is used, the sticky feeling continues to remain even after using the heating tool.

It helps in reducing the frizz to a good extent, but I guess using heating tools only makes you enter that vicious cycle 😛

What bothers me the most is the fact that it contains alcohol. I mean, I’m absolutely positive that alcohol is a drying agent, so it is quite confusing as to how this could fare well as a heat protectant. Nevertheless, it is a nice product that delivers its claims. So, I think it is worth a try.

Would I Repurchase or Recommend Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Hot Stuff Heat Defence Spray?

Honestly, not really. Since, the alcohol in it is a major put off for me. However, if you can dismiss this con, then I would say it is a pretty good heat protectant. Definitely worth a shot!
