This post is going to be all about Philips KeraShine straightener. I have naturally wavy hair that are very much frizz-prone. To tame the frizzy hair, I often take the help of hair stylers. Earlier, I have used other straighteners and curlers from Philips and quite liked them. When I saw the advertisement of this straightener, it was all purple and that flattered me. I am too much into purple and violet colours. Hence, I bought it and here are my views on it. Let’s get into the details.

My Experience with Philips KeraShine Straightener BHS386/00:

The straightener comes in a sturdy and thick cardboard packaging. The outer box houses all the details regarding the product. The straightener itself has beautiful dark purple coloured body with golden ceramic plates. The ceramic plates of this straightener are longer. The straightener has a pretty design printed on the top. To me, the straightener with purple matte finish is downright elegant looking. The straightener is very lightweight and sleek when compared to the regular ones. The swivel cord is long enough which makes the movement easy and provides adequate flexibility. Overall, I liked the straightener in appearance very much and it is travel-friendly as well.

The plates of straightener are keratin ceramic coated and a bit longer and slimmer than regular ones. The longer plates help in straightening the hair quickly and easily. However, I think that it will take a while for straightening very long hair. The styling plates are silky smooth and get heat up within a minute. There is a button at the bottom to lock the plates when pressed; the plates get locked in a jiffy. The only annoying thing about this straightener is the humming sound it makes after getting heated up. Although the sound can be heard only when straightening the hair sections near the ear, it is still annoying sometimes.

To straight my hair, I take sections a bit bigger as the plates are longer. I have to swipe the straightener 2-3 times over every section. My hair is not easy to straight and I have thick hair strands as well. When swiping straightener, I didn’t notice any hair breakage or hair stuck in the styling plates. In fact, hair glides on very smoothly and there is very minimal friction. I am quite happy with less friction feature as it leads to negligible hair breakage/hair fall. Also, the ionic care offered by this straightener helps in eliminating the static while conditioning them.

There are two temperature settings – 190 and 210 degree Celsius. I usually opt for 210 degree Celsius as my hair is thick and the lower temperature takes comparatively more time to straighten them. And, I am always in a hurry. However, my mom opts for 190 degree Celsius as she does not have that thick hair and the lower temperature setting straightens her hair quickly.

The results after using this straightener are silky and frizz free straight hair. The effect lasts for 2-3 days and usually after 2 or 3 days, I shampoo them. Post straightening, hair also becomes shiny, but the shine lasts only a day long and not more than that. I haven’t noticed any split ends as the heat exposure is minimal and I always use a heat protectant as well. The only thing is that the straightener will take a while to make hair poker straight. However, I don’t like my hair poker straight, so I am not complaining.
