Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 30 Oil-free Moisturizer Review

Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 30 Oil-free Moisturizer

Product Purchased by IMBB

Hello Ladies,

Summer is here in full swing. And I cannot imagine stepping out without applying sunscreen. I have been using the Juice Beauty Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30. As I have mentioned in the review, it wasn’t providing me enough moisture. Some part of my face was longing for that little extra moisture boost. I had to use that in conjunction with another light moisturizer. So I was looking for a good sunscreen with better moisturizing quality. That’s when I came across Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 30 oil-free moisturizer product. This product alone sells for $42. But there was a sale in Philosophy’s website where they sold this and micro delivery exfoliating wash as a duo for just $41. I jumped and grabbed the offer immediately. Lets see how this worked for me.

If your moisturizer is weighing you down, set your skin free with hope in a jar oil-free. This oil-free, lightweight moisturizer for normal to oily skin provides optimal hydration to revitalize skin and help maintain its natural moisture barrier, as it helps absorb surface oil and keep pores clear. Price: $42 for 60ml . I got mine for almost half the price.

My Experience with Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 30 oil-free moisturizer

Recently I have been dealing with occasional dry patches around the nose and on the cheeks. I wanted a sunscreen that can handle the dry spots but at the same time, doesn’t make me look like an oil slick.

This product comes in a bulky plastic tube with a flip cap. The cap closes snap tight and keeps product secure inside. However, the opening is wide, that most of the time I end up getting more product out than I need. I even thing that this is a packaging trick, which makes the customer to use more product than they actually need and thus finishing it up soon. Don’t you think so?

The product has a thick creamy consistency. It goes on effortlessly. Though it claims to be oil-free, it leaves a thin oily film which kind of sinks in, in about a minute. It provides a natural finish but definitely not matte finish as they claim. It feels light and comfortable on skin. It doesn’t make me sweaty unlike some other sunscreens do. Also it moisturizes my skin well taking care of the dry patches.

This product claims that it is for normal to oily skin. I have combination skin which falls right in between. That’s another reason for picking up this product. Makeup goes on pretty well over this. Be it a compact or a foundation. However, my nose becomes shiner just half way through the day. Nothing that cannot be handled by a primer or a blotting sheet. But if you have super oily skin, this might be a big concern.

I have been out in the sun for quite sometime wearing this sunscreen and this has provided good sun protection. I haven’t got any sunburn or tan so. I have been using his for 3 weeks now and it has not caused any breakout.

Cons of Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 30 Oil-free Moisturizer

2. I don’t like the wide opening
3. Does not provide matte finish as they claim

Final Word on Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 30 Oil-free Moisturizer

I like this better than the juice beauty oil-free moisturizer. But I wouldn’t buy this for the full price ($42). I’m sure I can find the same kind of sunscreen, if not better, for lesser price in the market. Would definitely buy it again if it goes on sale again. If you have a normal to combo skin do check this out. I wouldn’t recommend this for oily skin though.
