Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash Review

Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash Review

I use sunscreen and makeup almost everyday.  So, I like to include some kind of a mild exfoliator in my every day skin care regime. That helps to keep the pores clean and also makes skin makeup ready.  My favorite exfoliators so far are from Lush, which are perfect for everyday exfoliation and the ubtans from Forest Essentials.  Now, I have picked the Philosophy – The Microdelivery Daily Exfoliating Wash for that purpose.  Let’s see whether it has joined my favorite exfoliator list or not.

My Experience with Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash:

This product comes in a bulky plastic bottle with a flip cap.  It’s not good for travel until you buy a travel size of it. One problem I have with this packaging is that if the flip cap is not closed after every use , the product dries and blocks the opening. So, the next time you squeeze the bottle, it would splash all over the place, so make sure to keep the flip closed.

The product has a very runny consistency and is translucent.  There are no visible exfoliating particles in it, though one can feel it as you work it on the face.  Maybe that’s why it’s called “microdelivery” daily exfoliating wash.

I use about a quarter size of product for one-time use. I can feel the product working on my skin as I gently rub my fingers across the face. I massage for about a minute, avoiding the area around the eyes. It produces a milky foam.  Then, I wash it off with lukewarm water.  It washes off pretty easily without leaving any slippery feel on the skin. Skin feels smooth and looks clear from the first time of use. Sometimes, I like to let my face air dry, instead of towel drying it. My face feels comfortable after drying and I do not feel the need to immediately slather on moisturizer.

I prefer using this once a day, usually in the morning. In the evening, I use a cream cleanser or a mild cleanser. If I use this twice a day, I find it to be a tad bit drying. I have been using this for about 3 weeks now and I can see that my skin looks much healthier. It feels much softer as well (feeling it while I am typing this review :P).

One more thing I like about this product is that it is fragrance free.  I am tired of using heavily-scented skin care products. It is such a relief to use something that’s not scented.  This will be a big pro for people having sensitive skin and people who are sensitive to smell.

I am not very prone to breakouts and this hasn’t caused any breakouts so far. The bottle contains a good amount of product and I am sure it would last me for a while, unless I forget to close the lid after use and splash it all over the place the next time when I use it 😀

Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash

To sum it up, here are the pros and cons of this product:

  • Makes skin feel smooth after first use.
  • Skin looks healthy with prolonged use.
  • The micro exfoliating particles are gentle on the skin, can be used on a daily basis.

  • Good amount of product at the price.
  • Soap free.
  • Fragrance free.
  • Does not dry out skin if used once in a day.
  • Hasn’t irritated my skin nor caused any breakouts.

Cons of Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash:

  • Can be a little drying if you have dry skin or if you use it more than once a day.
