Happy New Year! I know I am late in wishing, but since this is my first post of 2018, my late wish can be considered. This New Year arrived with another haul from Ulta and I am all set to review a ton of products. You all know a much raved drug store bronzer from Physicians Formula Murumuru. Well, I bought one and a highlighter of the same line. I was not quite sure of picking this one, but went ahead ordering. The product I am talking about today is Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter in the shade “Rose Gold”, a sister product of award winning butter bronzer. Let’s get into the review.

My Experience with Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter Rose Gold:
When I first saw this highlighter, I was like ok, this looks so basic. I opened it and swiped most casually, expecting jittery shimmers. I was blown away the moment I touched it. I mean what is this?? I have never ever laid my hands on such highlighter and was amazed. Butter in true sense! My fingers just glided as if I am touching actual butter. I was not jittery at all. The smoothest highlighter formula I have ever felt. And, to talk about intensity.. oh my god. It beats everything I have. I usually start with packaging first but this time, I was so shaken by the product quality and smoothness that I had to pick this section first.
So, it’s the smoothest highlighter with cream to powder formula available hand down. It’s actually supposed to be a dupe of Stila’s heaved hue highlighter and 1/3 rd of the cost. As you swipe your fingers over it and swatch, it seems like liquid highlighter in intensity-wise. This is definitely not for faint hearted people. It makes your face to pop in an instant.
This can be worked out with a brush to give a medium and subtle glow, but I don’t think so. It is your face to highlight (in a good way) and I am loving it.
Let me calm down and explain you other things also, which we talk about any product usually. The packaging; it comes in a cardboard box with an open in front. The box has a hole, so that product can be hanged on rods. The actual box is slightly bigger than the cardboard dimensions, so it sits tightly inside and kind of oozes out from the open side.
The shade is Rose Gold, that is light gold with pink undertones. It works perfectly on my NC 40 skin tone. No need to mention again that texture is butter smooth. It has a sweet butter kind of smell, which is not bothersome for me at all. It doesn’t last for long post application.
I request you all not even to try applying with fingers, as blending such a stark highlight will become a challenge. Use a brush instead, so that you can build up the glow intensity as you like. It’s a perfect party highlighter and not an everyday glow highlighter. Stays put on face for 8-10 hours.

If you are looking for a popping highlight once a while and in an affordable pricing, go for it. This product will not disappoint you. However, if you are more of a natural or subtle glow person, this may not suit you.
