Quite a few drugstore brands are coming out with cushion foundations now. I had reviewed one from L’Oréal some time ago. Today, I am reviewing the Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Foundation. Read on to find out more.

My Experience with Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation:
Packaging: The foundation comes in a gorgeous blue compact with dark blue pearl details. The packaging is adorable and looks more like a jewelry box than a foundation.
The lid opens up to reveal a mirror on one side and a sponge applicator sitting on a tray. You need to flip open the tray to reveal the sponge cushion soaked in the liquid foundation.
This is a design typical of all cushion foundations and it works pretty well. There is no danger of the liquid foundation leaking.
The puff/sponge applicator is pretty handy and it actually works quite well. You just need to tap it on the foundation cushion and it picks up the right amount of product. It is also easy to use the puff to blend out the product. You can use a brush as well if you want to but it is not really needed. The applicator can be washed with water and soap to clean it.
Shade: This foundation sadly comes only in 3 shade selections – Light, Light/Medium and Medium. I picked up the shade “Light/Medium.” When I had first swatched it on my hand, I had thought it will be too light for me. Fortunately, it looked fine on me after blending, but this is a serious con as it will be very difficult for people to find a suitable shade.
Texture/Finish/Coverage/Lasting Power: Like most cushion foundations, this foundation is quite lightweight too. It is creamy but does not feel heavy at all and blends out very easily. The coverage is light to medium. It is buildable to some extent but it does not provide full coverage. It does smooth out the skin and brightens up the face, but you cannot depend upon it to hide any heavy skin imperfections.
Those of you who do not need heavy coverage can surely try this foundation as it provides a light, natural coverage that does not look cakey or made up at all.
The finish is a semi-matte satiny finish. It does not look drying on the skin and does not cling to any dry patches. I personally didn’t need any powder to set it, but if you are super-oily, you might need a powder.
The lasting power is average. It typically lasts around 6-7 hours.

- Brightens up the face.
- Lightweight and provides medium coverage.
- Easily blendable.
- Puff applicator works quite well.
- Good staying power.

Cons of Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation:
- Does not provide heavy coverage.
- Very few shade selection.
- Slightly expensive compared to drugstore brands.

Those of you who like light foundations and do not need very heavy coverage, should surely try it out.
I will not repurchase as I like to try out new products.
