Physicians Formula Super BB All In 1 Balm Stick SPF 30 Review

Hi folks!

Today I am going to be reviewing a very interesting product. Years ago, when Maybelline launched their BB Stick, I was probably the first one to purchase it and I loved it so much! It didn’t work so well as a concealer or even as a foundation, but it worked insanely well for my under eye circles. It was my go-to product for under eye discolouration and would cover up any sort of pigmentation really well. It did crease slightly, but I always fixed that with some setting powder. Ever since that stick got used up, I was trying to get hold of something similar, when I saw this in CVS, I thought why not! I purchased this in two shades – Light and Medium. Read on to know how this worked for me.

My Experience with Physicians Formula Super BB All In 1 Balm Stick SPF 30:

Packaging: This comes in a stick, just like the Maybelline one. This is a white, twist up stick. The top is rounded, different from the flat one on Maybelline. Application wise, I don’t think it will really matter. The round top will flatten with use and I do not really see one performing better over the other in this aspect.

It has a transparent cap through which you can see the product and the cap sometimes grazes the top of the product which I HATE and I sometimes feel it doesn’t shut firmly. It has never opened up unexpectedly, but I always have a paranoia about it happening. It has the product name in a silver print and there are some pretty silver details going on at the bottom with a silver lower cap which twists up. Overall, it is pretty and functional except for the part about the cap.

Texture: It is smooth and creamy to apply. It glides on very well. I have tested this as both foundation and concealer. It stays on my kin for about 4-5 hours with a touch up if my skin is too oily that day. Else, it pretty much stays put. It is not the most long wearing product when used all over that face. Probably good when you must run out for errands or for a short day out.

As an under eye concealer, I use it with an under eye cream and put this on top and set it with powder. If I layer it on an all day foundation, it lasts pretty much all day with minimal fading, nothing that bothers me. Only when used on its own, it has average staying power.

Shade: I got this in two shades for trial. There was a Light and Light/Medium. I really wish they had a Medium or Deep because Light/Medium was a match for me and I am Medium skin toned. I really wonder what people with deeper skin tones would do. However, this shade works well on me and covers up all my under eye pigmentation. It works well and that’s how I mostly use it. I do not like to wear a full face of makeup everyday.

I use a light moisturiser and this for my under eyes and then some eyes and lip makeup and I’m done. This is great for a quick sweep and out of the door. It does not brighten or highlight so if you are used to a highlighting concealer, you may want to skip this. I like a more natural finish on my face, so I really like this. It also has an SPF of 30 which is always a quality I like to see in my everyday products.
