Today I will be reviewing for you a tinted lipbalm by Pixi. Its their Shea Butter Lip balm in the Shade Pixi Pink.

My Experience with Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm – Pixi Pink

As you all know I am a lip balm fan and also consider myself a lip balm hoarder. Whenever I see a cute lip balm I cannot pass it up and if its one of those tinted ones that makes it look even more irresistible to me. I have used few products from the Pixi brand and have really enjoyed then hence I decided to give this lip balm a try and my ever-so-parched lips would not mind a little attention too.

Packaging:

All of the Pixi products incorporate their signature Lime green color in their packaging one way or the other. This color gives their products distinction from its competitors as well as makes the product look very eye catching. This lip balm also has that lip green color on the bottom and the color corresponding to the the color of the lip balm as a cap which in my case in the shade Pixi Pink.

Shade:

The shade Pixi pink is describes as Fresh vivid pink and I couldn’t agree more. When I got this lip balm I decided to go with such a bright pink thinking that it would sheer out when applied on the lips but this is not the case. This truly is one of those more pigmented lip balms and 2-3 swipes will give you opaque color which will even hide pigmented lips to some extent. If I had known this fact I would have gone for a more natural shade. The shade Pixi pink is truly a bright fuchsia pink which also tends to have a little bit of lavender. It is a tricky shade to pull off and will only suit fair to light skin more. Light-Medium skin like me can pull it off too but it does tend to look very unnatural on me unless I pair it with a corresponding blush or a contrasting eye makeup, definitely not a shade for me which I can throw on and run out to do errands.

Texture: This lip balm comes with a flat top which does make application a little bit difficult for those who have thin lips like me as it covers more area in one swipe that I need. And with it being so pigmented I do need a mirror to apply it properly or else I will end up with clown lips. Also it does tend to settle into crack of the lips so be careful about that if you have very chapped lips this will not look good.

The lip balm itself glides smooth on the lips and lips feel very moisturizes withthis on. It does have too much of that slippery feel like Chapstick or Vaseline hence feels very comfortable on the lips. It does have a satin finish which dried down to a matte in couple of hours as the lip balm starts to fade. It leaves beautiful tint natural looking pink tint behind when it fades.

Staying Power:

Lips stay moisturized for 3-4 hours while this is on my lips as it fades my lips start feeling parched again. So I see no long term moisturized effect on my lips with this. The tint stayed on my lips for 5-6 hours and the color even survives snacking.

Fragrance: It has a very nice floral fruity scent which lingers on lips for some time.

Overall: Not very impressed with this product but I cant say it’s a disappointment either. It has some good qualities and you can be a better judge as to if this product will be suitable for you.

Cons of Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm – Pixi Pink

• No long term moisturizing effect will not heal chapped lips.
• Does settle in fine lines so be sure to exfoliate before using.
• This particular color will be hard to pull off for medium to dark skin tones
