Ola bonita chica’s!
It is time to sparkle up those nails! I love doing my nails, other people’s nails and even my husband’s nails when he is asleep and does not know what is going on! While my brother-in-law on one hand is more sporting when I need an extra nail to swatch some colours on, my husband never volunteers for the job. So, sometimes when he is sleeping, I stick nail art stickers on his nails just to bug him. Haha! I am starting to collect a lot of these babies because they are a solid option, better than OPI too in my opinion! I have reviewed 5 shades before, you may check those out here!
Product Claims:
DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free as printed on the back of each of the bottles. Also these are flammable! So watch out!

I do not know what the ingredients in nail varnishes are and they are never listed anywhere regardless of the brand so if you find out, please do let me know!

USD 6.50 for 14 ml or 0.5 Fl Oz. There has been a price hike from the $6 it used to be!
My Experience with Prevail Barclay Baby, Bojo Soho, The Uptown, Brooklyn Nights, Ferry Free Nail Lacquer:
The transparent glass bottles with black screw top lids open easily and secure well. The colours shine right through these bottles making them look so attractive. So far they have all stayed intact through all my abuse and unintentional suicides I have made them do from my vanity. The shade name and other details are listed on the bottle base with the instructions and precautions folded in the paper underneath.
I have been really impressed with this Prevail line of nail polishes. They have a lovely flowing smooth consistency and their applicators are a joy to use. Also I love that some of the shade names are related to American cities with a bunch of these that I am reviewing today are related to New York! Let me go through these colours one by one. I do tend to buy complimentary colours so that I can use them as accents on each other for easy to achieve nail art because I do not have the artistic ability and/or patience for very detailed nail art work. Anyway, let us get started!
Barclay Baby:
This is a simple and understated grey that is not very attractive when sitting in a line of other colours but it is a very versatile shade that will compliment every outfit that you wear especially pastel shades. This particular shade is quite runny and probably the most watery of the lot and I worried about it being too ‘thin’ but two coats was enough for it to give me amazing colour and not leave nail showing underneath. It dries quickly in two to three minutes and dries to a simple shiny and almost gel like finish. I love this shade and I am calling it the new nude grey.
Bojo Soho: This is a pearly finish metallic grey that I bought to use with the previous grey shade, Barclay Baby. I love the effect Bojo Soho gives when used on the tips with the other simple grey on underneath. I do not prefer using this shade on its own because when applied on the full nail it gives kind of a stringy appearance due to the pearl finish.
The lines that the finish cause are clearly noticeable and this is not a look that I prefer. Two coats gives a good amount of shiny pearly colour. This dries to a dull finish and this is another reason why I only prefer using this shade as an accent.
Brooklyn Nights:
This is a beautiful deep Maroon with an almost pearly finish and this is the perfect ‘Indian’ colour! For an evening Indian function I think this is such a beautiful sultry colour to have on your nails. It also has an almost pearly finish and is the thickest in consistency of the lot. I love this colour but it is not a day use or an office wear shade.
It is like villain red and reminds me of Sridevi’s metallic red lips from the 90’s. The applicators of these entire nail lacquers are amazing because they are so sleek they really do an amazing job during application.
The Uptown:
This is a hard to describe shade and I will request you to refer to the pictures for the exact details. The base colour is almost a dark deep purple and this entire shade reminds me of the shades of the sky when the sun is just about to sit. This particular shade has these beautiful specks or flakes of a shiny substance in it that show through in one application but for the purpose of clear swatches I have done a double coat of these.
These specks are so beautifully iridescent and change colours from gold to a burnt orange as you move your fingers. This is definitely a very eye catching shade and is surprisingly very easy to remove with nail varnish even through it is kind of a glitter.
Ferry Free:
This again is a wonderful ‘Indian’ shade as I would like to call it because this shimmery gold nail varnish will bring just the right amount of attention to your nails during an evening function. This also pairs really well with Brooklyn Nights and really helps add that oomph factor to your whole look. The glitter is so fine that your nails do not feel scratchy after application and I have to mention the applicator again which is so narrow that it is very precise.
As you can see, two coats give a hefty amount of product which dries easily and this shade is so easy to remove with nail varnish remover that it was a blessing! I absolutely love this gold and you can accent nails with dots or stripes- the possibilities are endless!
