5 Steps of Preventing Body Odor in Men
I have encountered many males who smell bad daily. When I asked a male friend why doesn’t he use a perfume or deo, he replied, ’ It’s masculine to smell sweaty and dirty.’ I was like 😯 ‘No wonder, girls don’t come near you :-P’
Men smell much stronger than women because of their higher testosterone levels which increase the apocrine sweat production. Males are also less hygienic compared to women (it’s a fact don’t argue with me on that 😛 ) and sometimes it’s just genetic because of excessive secretion of apocrine sweatglands.
Males can combat body odor by following simple practices:-
1) Shower Regularly
It sounds pretty lame & obvious but believe me, there are people who don’t shower regularly. Not having a daily shower just makes it easier for those bacteria to accumulate on your skin.
2) Use a Men’s Body Wash & Shampoo
Most men still stick with their traditional purane zamane ka soap. Guys, grow up! It’s the 21st century, and there are so many brands now catering to men’s beauty needs. Take advantage of those brands as they not only serve as good bath & body products but also lighter colognes since most of them have masculine scents. These are also very good for men who can’t afford high priced perfumes. Nowadays, you get 2-in-1 Shampoo and Body Wash as well which is pretty effective.
3) Use a Deodorant or Antiperspirant
Don’t forget your armpits men! They stink the most 😛 Go for deos that contain aluminum and zinc as these are known to fight the monster odor causing bacteria :zombiekiller: There are many deodorants which don’t have a scent so use them just to fight the bacteria and then you can use a cologne or perfume.
Antiperspirants, on the other hand, block sweat glands, so bacteria doesn’t come in contact with your skin. If you don’t want to use any of these, you can use an antibacterial soap & then spray some cologne. Always remember bacteria = smell.
4) Avoid Certain Foods & Drinks
Reduce your consumption of spicy foods, onions & garlic as the natural odor of these foods itself travel through your blood vessels making its way through the sweat glands. Also avoid caffeine, alcohol & smoking as they lead to excessive sweating causing more body odor.
5) Use Body Powder
They work wonders in preventing that odor. Powder for men formulated to fight wetness and odor. You can use a translucent powder in places which generate most sweat so that it can absorb the moisture without making the areas look white. Many men grooming sets also come with a body powder. I recommend Sephora’s Matte for Men Man Powder.
So guys hopefully you will groom yourself better if not for your sake than just for the sake of your other half 😉
