PUR Hydragel Lift 360 Degree Eye Perfecting Primer Review

Hey lovely ladies,

Hope you gals had a lovely Christmas! I have been super duper busy with kids’ annual functions, sports days and the mandatory sick breaks because of the weather change. Both my munchkins are unwell, makes for some crappy Holidays season! 🙁 I don’t even know if I will be even be able to finish this review this year, but I’m gonna try! Today’s review is on a PUR Cosmetics product, something which was being raved about on YouTube. Let us find out more about the product…

Product Description:
Achieve the perfect eye makeup application with this hydrating all-purpose, cooling eye primer that preps and smooths the skin for better wear throughout the day. Encapsulated Water Complex hydrates the lid and under eye for an instant brighter, firmer, lifted look while blurring imperfections and priming for concealer application.
US $26

Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Stearate, Pentylene Glycol, Steareth-100, Glycerin, Isosteareth-2, Nylon-12, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5, Lecithin, Menthyl Lactate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Caffeine, Stearic Acid, Alcohol Denat., Phenoxyethanol, Red 40 (CI 16035).

The product comes in a twist-up chubby packaging – like one of the NARS Multiples. This, however, is quite small, almost like a mini version of the NARS multiple I got in a kit ages ago. The only difference is, this one has a silver aluminium type packaging, and not the terrible black NARS one. Also, this one has a small plastic cover over the product – apart from the outer silver cap. It comes packaged in a pink cardboard box with the ingredients, etc mentioned on it.

My Experience with PUR Hydragel Lift 360 Degree Eye Perfecting Primer:

I came to know about this product from a YouTube video of a makeup artist I follow. The claims that it worked as a 360 degree primer for the eyelid and under-eye seemed too good to be true! I got super excited. I ordered it at the first opportunity I got. So, let us find out how this one performed.

The first thing which hits you when you get it is the size of it – it’s really small. For $26 – you kind of expect a bit more. Like I have mentioned, it reminded me of a NARS mini Multiple. Don’t worry – you don’t need too much for each application.

The product is designed like a broader version of a lip balm and it’s quite easy to apply. You just remove the cover and the cap, twist up the product and apply it on your eyes. The excellent thing – it can be applied both on the lid and the under-eye area. The product does not have any discernible fragrance. The moment it touches the skin, you feel this delicious cooling sensation – without having to pop it into a fridge or something. I love how it feels so cooling on the eye area, especially as a 10-second end of day treat for the eyes or just something to begin your day with.

The sensation does not die down instantly, it continues for a while. It helps to de-puff the area which might have something to do with the cooling sensation or the caffeine in the product. It also provides instant hydration without any feeling of greasiness. There is absolutely no residue. You do not need to wait for even a second for it to settle down or anything. You can go in with your makeup instantly post applying it.

What the product does is that it effectively hydrates the area on which it is applied and makes it seem plumper, which in effect reduces the appearance of fine lines around the area. So, the skin looks fresher, healthier and more taut. Please note, this won’t suddenly reverse all signs of ageing. If you have deep-set wrinkles, it will not make them disappear, that’s not gonna happen. What will happen is that the finer lines, the crow feet, the tiny wrinkles in the inner corner of your under-eye, the textured-ness of your lid – all that will feel more smoothed out. It actually works. It totally delivers on that claim.

So, needless to say, with a smoother canvas, whatever you apply on top, looks better. The concealer/corrector goes on more smoothly, creases less. The overall effect is more becoming.

However, you don’t really need to use it only under makeup. You can use it as it is also, even when you aren’t using makeup. I love using it as a quick pampering for my eyes, at the end of day. The cooling sensation gives quite a relief to tired eyes.

So far, so good. If only the Company had stayed to their claims on the above, this was a 5 on 5 product. However, the Company added one more claim to the product, to which it does not live up at all. That is the claim that it makes the eyeshadows “apply smoothly and last longer.” While it does make the eyeshadows apply more smoothly because the area feels less textured. However, for my oily lids, this definitely does not work as an eyeshadow primer. It does not give any longevity to the eyeshadows applied on top. This feels like a hydrating gel rather than an eyeshadow primer. I tried it with a couple of different eyeshadow formulas to see if that made a difference. Sadly, it didn’t.

Pros of PUR Hydragel Lift 360 Degree Eye Perfecting Primer:

  • An excellent hydrating gel treatment for the eye area.
  • Works well both for the lid as well as the under-eye area.
  • Has a lovely cooling sensation upon application. The sensation continues does not die down immediately.
  • It actively de-puffs the area.
  • It provides instant hydration and makes the area look smoother, tauter and smoothes out the fine lines.
  • Does not leave any tackiness or greasiness on the surface.
  • Works well under or without makeup.
  • Convenient small packaging – easy to use.
  • Easy to travel with.
  • Lightweight texture.
  • Good pigmentation.

Cons of PUR Hydragel Lift 360 Degree Eye Perfecting Primer:

  • Does not work effectively as an eyeshadow primer, does not give any longevity to the eyeshadows.

IMBB Rating:
4.5/5 product

I kind of like this product and quite likely to repurchase. Is it a must have? Not really. I feel a combination of ice pack and good eye cream will probably have the same effect. However, this is quicker and definitely more convenient to use.  Also, I do have oily lids which ensure that eyeshadows get muddled super fast. Maybe for gals with dry lid, this may work well as an eyeshadow primer too. I cannot vouch for this, just an assumption. Also, the Company has not made any claims that it is more suitable to one skin type over another. If you have tried this product, do share your views on it.
