I had been eyeing these masks for a really long time and finally decided to pick them up. The harsh winters in Tokyo have almost ended, but my lips still require a lot of moisture. I find this lip mask very helpful, especially if I need to apply a bright or bold lip color.

How to Use:

My Experience with Pure Smile Choosy Lip Pack in Peach, Milk:

When I first removed the mask from the packet, I noticed that it comes sandwiched between 2 sheets of plastic, which in turn, have two more sheets of plastic. I like the idea as it prevents any loss of moisture and keeps the mask stuck to the inside of the packet. Even though, you need to remove so many layers to access the mask, it is very easy to actually get it out. The size of the mask is very obviously bigger than my lips and the mask covers a little bit outside my lips as well. I am not complaining about this at all as the more area it covers, the happier I am. Most face masks have areas cut out for the lips, so it makes sense to make a mask specifically for lips. You can also cut the mask to make it fit only your lips, but I am too lazy to do that.

The texture of the mask is gelatinous, sort of like the Utena Puresa White Pearl and Platinum Hydro Gel Mask, but not as liquidy and jelly-like. Before starting, cut a line in the centre of the mask, so you can speak/eat. If you don’t lie down while using it, the mask will come off after a while on its own, especially when nearing the 30 minutes mark. So, I suggest you use it while lying down just to get the maximum benefits out of it. After using such masks, it is a habit of mine to use the remaining product in the packet, but this one does not carry any such extra liquid in the packet. This is not a particular downside for me, but just something to note.

The mask feels very cooling on the lips. I have very dry and flaky lips usually, but it has soften them up a bit. This means, they get sloughed off easily when exfoliated. But, this softness goes away after some time. It does not make my lips very hydrated, but they feel super soft after usage. I recommend you to exfoliate your lips post using this mask and then slathering on lots of lip balm. As an experiment, I used a lip liner (since they are generally very drying) after a few minutes of using this mask and it went on so much smoother than it does usually.

Does it live up to its claims?
No, not really! Because it claims that lips will be moisturised, but I find that they become more soft than moisturised.

Any differences between the two variants?
The variants match the colour of the masks, that is, the peach mask is peach in colour and the milk mask is whitish in colour. Apart from the scent change, I didn’t notice any difference between the two variants that I have tried. If anything, the Milk flavour was a little more drying than the Peach one!
