Hello everyone!

I desperately wanted to try this particular shampoo out as I have been looking for a shampoo free from the harsh chemicals which also gives volume to my flat, fine hair. I have been using this product for a month already, so read on to see how I liked it.

Packaging:

This shampoo comes in a cute light pink colored plastic 8.5 fl oz. sized bottle. There is enough product for it to last a little over a month if you wash your hair every other day. The actual shampoo color is actually a white creamy color with small hints of baby pink.

Scent:

The scent of this product is way too much for me to handle. It has a very highly earthy perfumed scent which (in my opinion), isn’t flattering at all. It has a very earthy tone mixed with a manly musk scent. Though I should mention, the scent does not linger in the hair for too long, but instead it leaves just a tiny hint of a perfumed scent which is not even noticeable.

My Experience with Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo:

To start off, I have thin, straight, long hair and my hair tends to go oily after only 12 hours after washing. My hair does not have that much volume due to the long length of my hair. I am always on the hunt for a shampoo that can give me desirable volume and from trial and error basis, I have landed some great and also some major flop shampoos. This particular shampoo turned out to fall right in between those two categories. The first day I tried this shampoo, I was highly highly disappointed. Following directions, I applied quarter sized product (maybe a little more) to my hair and rinsed it out. It lathered pretty well and I thought that it cleaned out my hair thoroughly. That is where I was wrong, after my hair dried, my hair got extremely oily and so flat that it seemed like I had not washed it in days (eww!). I figured that I may have not rinsed out the shampoo thoroughly therefore it got oily. So, I washed my hair again the next day and it did the exact same thing. After using it 4 times, I decided to give up and not use this again until the 5th try, I decided to use larger amount of product and I used double the quarter sized that I used. My hair ended up not getting oily and stayed clean like how long it would usually stay clean for. Since then on, I had to use double the product amount I originally used which unfortunately made the shampoo finish up faster.

The main thing this shampoo claims is volume. Did it give me volume? Um no. Not even close! I noticed absolutely no change. Not a single bit change in volume from the first use to the 20th. I let my hair air dry and even blow dry, but there was no new change in which I can say that this shampoo has caused. Now we all know that if you want volume there is the option to blow dry which I did, but it was no different than any normal blow dry while using my other regular shampoos. It claims to thicken each hair strand and lift the roots but unfortunately that did not happen for me.

Okay, enough with the cons.  There are a few things which I really enjoyed about this product.  First thing, it makes my hair so soft and silky! Noticeably soft, I can honestly see the difference from uses from other shampoos and this shampoo. This shampoo locks in moisture in my hair (especially the ends) until the next time I wash my hair, I love touching my hair because it feels amazing. Other than making hair soft and silky, it also makes them shiny and less tangled. I even got compliments because my hair looked noticeably shiny in the sun. I have even noticed that I have less hair fallout, it claims that the eucalyptus and wheat protein keep the hair from breaking. The ingredients in this shampoo are 100 percent vegan which is very beneficial to the hair, so that might explain the pros of this product. It contains beneficial ingredients like: Natural Plant Extracts: Lavendar, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood.

Signature Aromatherapy Blend: Amber, Mandarin and also AntiFadeComplex and ZeroSulfate. This product also claims to protect hair color, but since I do not have my hair colored, I cannot say if that is true or not.

Pros of Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo:

  • Makes hair shiny and silky.
  • Makes hair soft and manageable.
  • Contains beneficial ingredients.
  • Reduces hair breakage.
  • Cute packaging.

Cons of Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo:

  • Does not clean hair thoroughly, unless you use A LOT of product.
  • Does not volumize hair, not even the tiniest bit.
  • Can make oily hair even more oilier.
  • Scent is not flattering.
  • Expensive, compared to other shampoos.
  • Not worth the money.

IMBB Rating:

2.5/5

Do I Recommend Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo?

I do not recommend this product because the mere purpose was to volumize hair, so buying a volumizing shampoo when it does not even do what it says, it does not make sense to buy and it is a waste of money.

Would I Repurchase Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo?

No, I will not be purchasing this again!
