Ranbaxy Suncros UVA Cream

Ranbaxy Suncros UVA Cream

Well, today, I am reviewing a product which my friend bought to fight her problems of excessive tanning due to overexposure under the sun. I have used it once or twice, but stayed away from it since it is a cream-based sunscreen and I have combination skin, more prone towards the oily side. However, though it is Ranbaxy, a trusted company, my friend is totally dissatisfied with the product.

My Take or Rather My Friend’s Take on Ranbaxy Suncros UVA Cream:

My friend’s skin specialist had advised her to use this sunscreen. Her skin texture is from normal to dry, so the cream base is perfect for her, but the problem with this cream is that it is very thick and refuses to gel well with the skin. What remains is a whitish kind of texture that has to be rubbed continuously before it blends well with the skin. Also, it is just does not work for summers when we anyway sweat so much. Application of such a heavy cream means a lot of perspiration and discomfort. However, my friend still continued using it , hoping that the tan would reduce to a certain extent, but no such luck.

Suncros

What is surprising is that coming from a company like Ranbaxy and in spite of being a medicated cream, it failed so miserably.

Pros of Ranbaxy Suncros UVA Cream

• Since the cream is very thick, so it lasts longer on the skin.
• It will work in cold places or during winter. Summers in places like Mumbai, Kolkata or Delhi is too hot for this cream to be worn, unless you have excessively dry skin, but it should work well in hill stations and cold places.
• The cream smells nice.
• It relieves the skin of dryness.
• The cream is medicated.
• The packaging is good. The cream can be taken out of the tube quite easily.

Cons of Ranbaxy Suncros UVA Cream

• It is quiet expensive, Rs. 290 for a 50 gm tube is on the expensive side.
• It fails to work well as a sunscreen.
• It is difficult to even apply during summers when the sun is at its hottest.
• The consistency of the cream is thick. When you see it, you do not understand, but when you apply it on the skin, you realize how thick it is.

My Rating: 2.5/5.

Buy it Again?
This product, anyway, won’t suit me. However, my friend strongly refuses to buy it, in spite of the fact that it was prescribed to her.

    1. first of all thanks for liking the review and my name :yahoo: ya…this is like really really greasy…you just hve to keep rubbing on and still the white cream remains on your skin.

  1. Anveshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii………….thanks for the review……I don’t dare trying such thick sunscreens after I had a very bad experience when the doctor wrote such a kind of thick sunscreen and it broke me out so badly that it took me months to get rid of the scars :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle:

    1. ya…it happened with me also…so now im always wary before using any cream suggested by the doctor…i first check and only then use…medicated creams can be far more dangerous than normal ones…..and welcome:)

  2. hey!
i guess it is available in a gel form as well…..i was asked to use this product but in the gel form as I’ve got an oily skin..anyway,as i am a strict Lotus sunscreen fan…never used it!

    1. Ya…I guess so…but after hearing about this, Id rather not try that too…ya even I use the lotus gel sunscreen..its the best of the lot, but nothing that I can go gaga over!!

    1. No idea….my search still continues…i keep on asking my friends too….but no1 is really satisfied with any sunscreen that they use..I had a bad experience with VLCC sunscreen too…they rather increased my tan

      1. Using lemon juice and tomato pulp every evening till it dries removes the tan slowly and surely… This is a time and tested remedy my mother put me onto years ago… Use this everyday on the face and arms and you may not have to bleach your face after a couple of months… You can also you sugar in the mixture… that too is a natural bleacher

  3. According to Famous Dermat Jamuna Pai u can use little oil free moisturizer like aqua soft lotion OR emolene to dilute ur sunscreen. You can try that..may be useful in your case.

    1. ya…thats what we have been doing…Using it with a aloe vera gel or a oil free moisturizer before applying. Thanks anyway 🙂

  4. There are 4 varients of Suncros in the market.
There is Suncros Lotion – for dry kind of skin.
There is Suncros Aquagel – a water resistant sunscreen for oily and perspirying kind of skin,
Then there is Suncros UVA. Now UVA has been made for peoples who have some degenerative problems on their skin/face like Melasma or some one who has just gone through some procedure!
Thats why the UVA variant is a bit thick(mainly because of Zinc oxide 6%). But other varients have zinc oxide just 2 % and Suncros is the no. 1 sunscreen in India! So, there it is. Suncros has different varient of sunscreen depending on the skin type! You must have used Suncros lotion or Aquagel, then you might have liked it.
