Random Makeup Talk

There are two looks that I have tried this week. One is from the Indian Wedding Tutorial and one Mrunmayee asked me to try. 🙂

This is a muted golden blue look inspired by the Wedding makeup tutorial Deeptima did. I used Golden from my inglot palette and mixed 2-3 blues from the Coastal Scents palette. I am pretty happy with the outcome. :))

This one is a neutral golden brown look. During our morning chit chat, Mrunmayee suggested me to try this. 🙂 I have done this look pretty much the way I did Golden Bronze Tutorial

I was just trying lots of shades and finally chose the Lotus Hypnoctica bronze* pencil. It’s not a creamy pencil and it has silver glitter particles, which might hurt your lids if you press the pencil too hard. But once you work with it with a light hand, it gives a beautiful bronze base with silver glitter here and there.

SO I applied golden eye shadow in the inner corner of the eye and traced the outer corner with the Lotus eye pencil *.

The  gently filled the outer third of the eye lid with the pencil. Then regular blending, liner and kajal.

Some of you mentioned that you have not been able to find Colorbar Cinnabar blush. Well!! Cinnabar and Plum Brown are almost the same shades. Cinnabar just has a silver shimmer. If you have Plum Brown you can just dab a little silver eye shadow or highlighter on top of it and it would give a similar effect. 🙂

And that’s it. Happy Weekend to all of you. :))

*sent by brand for consideration.

    1. So glad you tried the look… But I still think you should do it with Teddy…. Er… That just got weird..

I meant the look… The stark contrast will look awesome… Try layering the shadow over blended Teddy…

    1. These are not creamy pencils so try them before buying. I mentioned in the post. :))

And you know I recently got to know that vega mixes pig hair in their brushes and that’s the reason they are sssssooooooo cheappp. :((((((

  1. hello,
I wanted to ask that which are the best brushes i could use.?
    Rather than using vega.?
And yes i dont want it to be very expensive and Moreover, i can get easily in delhi.

    Thanks,
    KritiDS

    1. Hi Kriti,

You can check out colorbar brushes. Some of them are good. Other than that I think sigma brushes deliver good brushes at a very decent price.

  2. Nice eye make up, Rati. Last night, I tried grey smokey eyes. Didn’t take any pics though, as it was my first try! BTW, have you seen the brush kit Lakme is giving free with purchases of Rs. 1,000 ? I have 2 kits!

      1. Hi Rati, I haven’t used these Lakme brushes yet, but I ‘brushed’ them against my hand, they seemed to be of mediocre quality, the eyebrow brush had already broken off from its handle. My smokey eyes turned out OK, so-so, I used Maybelline grey eyeshadow and Chambor metallic grey eyeliner and highlighted my brow bone area with a frosty dull peachy kind of eyeshadow from L’oreal Paris.

        1. Sigh!! Had lakme come up with good quality brushes people would have grabbed them. There are barely any companies in India that are making brushes.

          Took any piccys?

  3. wow….I loved both the looks…..
tomo will try 1st one for sure

    today I had awesome pedicure…..fish pedicure :-*
this is the second time I did….and I am loving it….hehe :silly:

Monday I am leaving for Delhi….yippieee…..will try to do a nail art tutorial for all tomorrow before I am off for diwali (10 days ) :weep: :weep: will miss IMBB as no net connection in Delhi :idk: :idk:

  4. me loving ur looks Rati… :-* :-* :-* …gonna try the golden brown…have to get good brushes…was actually thinking of vega..but now…nooooooooooooooo….lemme get colorbar…n Rati suggest good brands of matte eyeshadows as I dont like wearing shimmery ones for work

    1. Preetha,

Revlon mattes are awesome. Maybelline eyeshadow quads also have matte eye shadows. Inglot has a good matte eye shadow collection.

Not all brushes by colorbar are good. Do read the review I did sometime back. 🙂

  5. ahh!! the bronze pencil look is great, am trying it out as soon as i buy that pencil and adding some mascara too.. thanks rati :-))

  6. :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: WOW… both of them are nice….. And wat perfection Rati…!!! :beauty: :beauty: :beauty: :beauty:
But i have some extra louuuue for blue color …. :silly: :silly:
