My Experience with Real techniques Bold Metals Collection Brush 100 Arched Powder Brush:

I previously reviewed The Real Technique’s Bold Metals 101 Triangle foundation brush and was not very impressed by it. This brush on the other hand is completely opposite.

For those who are unaware, Real Techniques has recently released their “Bold Metals” collection which has a total of 7 brushes. There are specially marketed as a luxurious and prestige line of brushes, hence they are much more expensive that their regular core collection.

Packaging:

All of the brushes from the Bold Metals collection are color-coded. The golden brushes are base brushes and contain 2 brushes which are the 101 triangle foundation brush and this 100 arched powder brush.

The handle is a long, but not too long so as to be an uncomfortable length in the  hand; it is a bright reflective liquid gold color. It looks very luxurious from the first glance and also feels luxurious in the hand. Also it is designed in such a way that the brush will not roll of when placed on a flat surface.

Bristles:

The bristles on this brush are incredibly soft. I own a couple of the Real Technique’s basic collection brushes and as we are all aware they are incredibly soft too. These bold metals brushes are marketed as being much much softer than those but honestly, I don’t feel a vast difference. Both feel very similar in softness to me with the bold metal brush feeling maybe 5-10% softer, not a huge difference. The biggest difference lies in the density of the bristles.

This brush has dense bristles (not too tightly packed though) and has a pinched ferrule which gives the bristles a narrow appearance from the side. It has a domed arched shape. Because of it pinched bristles, it work better when used in a paddle style sweeping motion. The dense bristles pick up a good amount of powder and the big size helps spread it evenly on the face.

The bristles don’t feel scratchy on the skin at all. I can even use this powder to apply bronzer lightly all over the face and neck to give that sun kissed appearance and the domed end easily gets around the hairline.

This brush does wash up easily and retains it shape even after washing. I did not see any shedding with this brush. The bristles are synthetic and cruelty free hence I can use even alcohol based cleaners without worry about damaging the bristles.

Overall, this is a very well made, luxurious brush. It does come with an expensive price tag, which honestly I cannot justify in terms of the performance of the brush as I find the Real Techniques core collection brush does just as effective job at it. So technically you are paying more for the look and the “luxury” tag of the brush. If you have to splurge on a brush which will enhance the beauty of your vanity when displayed, while giving you good performance, go ahead as you will not be disappointed with this brush. If you are on a budget, I advise you to go with the Real Techniques core collection and honestly you won’t be missing out on much in terms of performance.

    1. Yes the Real technique core collection powder brush would be very similar in function.. except the fact that it is not pinched in as much

    1. i know..even though it looks luxurious it dsnt stay that way for long..but since i use it with powders and not creams.. possibility of staining is less

  1. Looks so cute Neha! But I don’t think Im buying another powder brush any time soon. I picked one from EL and paid a King’s ransom for it!

  2. After the foundation brush review, I was really disheartened as this is RT that we are talking about, and a dud is simply not acceptable!! This review has restored that faith!! These look so royal 🙂
