My Experience with Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection 300 Tapered Blush Brush:

I got 3 of these new Real Techniques bold metals collection brushes when they first released. I have previously reviewed the 101 Triangle foundation brush and 100 Tapered arched powder brush.

So far, I have a mixed feeling about these brushes. I love how eye-catching and gorgeous these brushes are. But when it comes to their performance, I feel like they don’t live up to the high expectations I had about them.

Packaging:

This blush brush is 1 of the 2 “Finishing brush” from the bold metals line. It has the similar shiny finish long handle which is weighted, hence sits very comfortably in hand. The bristles are very soft on this brush. I do own some of the Real technique original brushes which I can testify to being very soft too. These rose gold brushes are marketed as being way softer than the original brushes but honestly there isn’t a huge difference, the bold collection brushes are maybe 10% more softer and smoother.

The biggest difference lies in the density of the bristles. The bristles on this blush brush are very dense and they are tightly packed; unlike the original blush brush which was domed and have not so tightly packed bristles I felt like I could get a much more effective placement and distribution of powder evenly with that.

Since the bristles on this brush are so tightly packed, I find it difficult to get a seamless application of my powders/creams without disturbing the foundation base I have underneath. I usually tend to apply heavier coverage on my cheeks where I do have acne scars and whenever I use this brush to apply any blush or powder on it almost always messes with the coverage of my foundation. Also it gives me very patchy, uneven application.

I do love the design of this brush. The tapered pointy edge makes it great to use it with cream contour. The side of the brush can be used easily to apply blush in paddle style motion. Due to its smaller than average size it also fits perfectly to set the under eye concealer and to apply highlight. The white bristles on the brush are both a pro and con. It does help you see clearly how much product your are picking up hence it helps you to not overdo your blush and end up looking like a clown. But it is also prone to staining and looking dirty easily.

The bristles on these brushes are all synthetic which is my preference. As they wash up easily, and I can use alcohol based cleaner on then. I did not notice any shedding with this brush.

Overall I am very impressed with the quality, design and looks of these brushes. They are incredibly well-made no doubt, but I am disappointed in terms of their functionality. I don’t find myself reaching for this brush a lot when I do my makeup. Hence I will not recommend this.

Pros of Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection 300 Tapered Blush Brush:

• Absolutely beautiful brush
• Sift bristles
• Cruelty free synthetic bristles
• Perfect size to apply blush, highlight and setting powder under the eye, Can also use the pointy edge to contour.
• Brushes are weighted and sit comfortably in hand.

Cons of Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection 300 Tapered Blush Brush:

• Bristles are too dense to distribute powder evenly.
• I get uneven application.
• Always messes the coverage of my foundation I have underneath.
