Real Techniques Setting Brush Review

Real Techniques Setting Brush Review

Hello Everyone!

Hope you all are having a wonderful week! I have been going brush crazy lately and hoarding loads of makeup brushes, so definitely expect lots of brush reviews coming up! Most of you know I love my Sigma brushes, but recently, I started buying Real Techniques brushes and I must say they have some really fantastic brushes and better and cheaper than Sigma!

So today, I will be reviewing their setting brush.  Real Techniques is a line of brushes from the fantastic makeup guru on YT Samantha Chapman aka Pixiwoo Sisters! All the RT brushes are synthetic and made of  100% taklon.

Product Description:

The key to completing any look with a controlled dusting of powder or highlighter:

  • Look pixel-perfect even in harsh light.
  • Ultra-plush, synthetic taklon bristles are hand-cut.
  • 100% cruelty-free.
  • Extended aluminum handle is light and easy to use.

My Experience with Real Techniques Setting Brush:

I was drawn to Real Techniques brushes a few months ago, especially for their colorful packaging and rave reviews on YT. Though I absolutely love my Sigma Tapered Highlighter F35 Brush, but I really wanted to try the RT version of it and I must say RT has completely replaced my Sigma one!

Real Techniques Setting Brush 2

The Real Techniques setting brush comes in a very attractive plastic packaging and the brush itself is purple in color! RT brushes have colors defined for each of their collections and individual brushes. The moment I saw the first, I thought wow this one is so small as compared to my Sigma version! But being smaller, it does a fantastic job of applying the setting powder under the eyes!

Real Techniques Setting Brush 4

The bristles are so soft, OMG way softer than the Sigma version! Also, its a dome-shaped brush hence is perfect for setting under eye concealers and even highlighter on cheek bones! The bristles are 100% synthetic and made from taklon bristles so easy to clean and does not shed at all!

Real Techniques Setting Brush 5

Most of the RT brushes especially the face ones come with a flat bottom which gives them the ability to stand alone, this brush though it comes with flat bottom does not stand alone on its own since the bottom is way to small to have a proper balance.

Real Techniques Setting Brush 6

The bristles are dense and have perfect amount of fluffiness to set the under eye area with a powder without giving that heavy look or cakiness, love it! For me, its a must-have brush and I am extremely happy with the purchase!

Pros of Real Techniques Setting Brush:

  • Absolutely adorable packaging with fun colors!
  • The handle is not too long or short and perfect to use.
  • The bristles are densely packed with perfect fluffiness.
  • Does not shed and dries super fast!
  • The shape of the brush gives perfect control in applying the under eye setting powder.
  • Can be used to apply highlighter on cheeks.
  • Cheap! – 8$
  • Does not make the face appear cakey or dry.
  • Fits the crevices of eyes and around the nose perfectly.
  • Cruelty free.

Cons of Real Techniques Setting Brush:

  • Availability is the only con since its not available in India.

IMBB Rating:

4.9/5

Price:

8$

I know availability is an issue in India, but even Sigma ones are not easily available.  I ordered my RT brushes online since the shipping is extremely reasonable and the brushes reached me in flat 4 days! Of course, I chose the shipping with tracking number option since I did not want to take chance.  I highly recommend RT brushes, most of them have been reviewed on IMBB, I have a few which I am testing right now and will review them soon.

I hope the review was helpful.  Until next time, take care and stay beautiful 🙂

  1. Hey Parita, very nice and helpful review. I am also planning to buy some RT brushes from them, can you please tell me how much you paid for customs? I read somewhere that it should be 10% of total order amount, but many people have complained on various sites stating that they have been charged up to 30 to 50 percent. Is that right?

  2. fantastic pics dear.. *drool* *clap* even am also drooling to have it though i hardly knew its usage.. *headbang*
