Real Techniques Shading Brush Review

By Sudha Taneja

Hey Girls,

My first review on IMBB and I am quite nervous, I hope I can make some impact though not as great as some seasoned writers here. Hope you will find my review useful. For my first product review, I have chosen my most-loved brush ever, the Real Techniques Shading Brush.

Product Description:

From subtle to dramatic, this brush is ideal for creating flawless high-definition results; look pixel-perfect even in harsh light, ultra-plush, synthetic bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free, extended aluminum handle is light and easy to use.

My Take on Real Techniques Shading Brush:

You all must have heard of Real Techniques brushes.  Pixiwoo is my all-time favorite makeup guru on Youtube. Real Techniques is the brain child of Samantha Chapman, one-half of Pixiwoo. I love and admire their detailed tutorials, explaining each and every step for beginners, and most importantly, they demonstrate how to use their makeup brushes which is so great.  A few days ago, I had the privilege of receiving this and some other brushes as a gift from my one of dear ones (Thank you!) Ever since, there has been no looking back. The quality is high standard and when you have loved ones bringing these for you, then these prove to be very cost effective.

Real Techniques Shading Brush comes packaged in a plastic case which can be re-used for storing the brush, not only for day to day use, but great while traveling too. Shading Brush is slim as regular ones that are available in the market, but the aluminum handle makes it durable and long lasting. It does not break/crack/peel off like the Vega brushes and is highly durable. The rubber gripper at the base is excellent and ensures it does not slip off your hands while using.

The dual-toned bristles are synthetic and I personally support 100% cruelty-free products.  Synthetic brushes in my opinion lasts longer, shed very less and retains its shape.  Real Techniques Shading Brush has all the above qualities.  I have washed it numerous times and it still looks as good as new. This brush though is made for applying eyeshadow over the eyelids, it can be used to put color in the crease. It works in blending the eyeshadow slightly if you are going for a single eyeshadow look. This brush is also perfect for applying liquid concealer under the eye area or simultaneously it can be used for applying powder to concealed area.  I find this brush very versatile to use.

What I Like about Real Techniques Shading Brush:

  • Plastic case it comes in is durable.
  • Sturdy aluminium handle does not break easily.
  • Rubber gripper at the base makes sure the brush does not slip from your hands.
  • Excellent in applying eyeshadow over the eyelids.
  • Picks color effectively from the pan without much fallout.
  • Pricing is very reasonable.
  • Soft bristles.
  • Made of synthetic bristles, no cruelty to animals.

What I Do Not Like about Real Techniques Shading Brush:

  • Not easily available in India, but with extra shipping charges, these can be ordered from various international sites.

IMBB Rating:

5/5

Is it for you? Yes, if you are looking for a flat shading brush which packs color on the eyes efficiently without much fall out.  Ever since I started using Real Techniques brushes, I haven’t looked back. I dream of building my entire collection from the brand. High quality and reasonable pricing makes them must-have brushes.
