Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush Review

Hola amigos!

I am back after a long-looooong time. I really missed you all. 🙁 I wasn’t writing, but I used to check IMBB daily. How can I live without doing so! But, I don’t know what I was busy with as I did nothing substantial. But, I guess, I needed some time to look back, introspect and decide my future path. Though, I have still not reached any decision, I am out of my, sort-of, depression!

My Experience with Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush:

Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush Review1

When I first saw this brush, I was really intrigued by the unique design. But, somehow, did not buy it since I was not sure if it would be good nor not. Also, I had never seen a brush like this before. I took my time, but then my curiosity got better of me and I bought it home with me. 😀 And yes, one of the main reasons due to which I bought it is that it looked unique. 🙂

Let us start with the packaging. The brush comes in plastic case, like all other RT brushes. The case is really big for the size and I discarded it soon after clicking the pics, but in any case, it was not a good choice for traveling since the plastic was not hard enough to keep the brush safe while on the go.

The brush has purple and black body like the other brushes in the “Brushes-For-Eyes” family. It is very-very thin just the fine liner brush from the brand. But, this doesn’t cause any problem in holding and gripping the brush. The brush has a small, tapered silicone tip. The tip is very flexible and glides on the lids during application easily without tugging or pulling. The tip is very sharp and pointed and gives awesome precision while you create the cat eye. Since the tip is thin, one can create very thin, sharp, precise lines with it without worrying about the ‘bristles’ spreading during application and messing up the ‘wing’.

I mostly use liquid liners, but I wanted to be perfect with the liner application using gel liners too and this brush made my task really easy. But this brush, too, isn’t perfect and has some shortcomings as well. Firstly, since there are no bristles to hold the product, I have to dip it into the liner again and again, at least 3-4 times per eye which does consume a little bit of time. But due to this, it is super easy to clean as well. I just have to wipe it with a tissue and am done! Even if I am in a hurry, I don’t have to worry about cleaning the brush just after use with the fear that it will become rock hard otherwise; this does happen with other liner brushes if they are not spot cleaned. I have not noticed any staining. Even after so many uses, the brush looks as good as new.

Another thing to be careful about during application is that since the silicone tip is really flexible, one has to be bit slow with it, else it might mess the application. Also, I feel that it is best to work with cream and gel liners and not with liquid liners.

Cons of Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush:

• Doesn’t work well with liquid liners.
• Doesn’t hold the product, brush needs to be dipped multiple times during application.
• Have to be slow with it since the tip is flexible.

IMBB Rating:
4/5

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush?
I don’t think I would be repurchasing it, since this one would last me long. But, I would surely recommend it, especially, to beginners. If you are looking for a brush which can give you thin, precise lines, but don’t mind spending wee bit more time, look no further, pick it up! 🙂

  1. hope you are doing well now bakul! :)) This looks like an interesting brush. wish it could hold more product. I find it a bit annoying dipping brush in the pot again and again! very good review. :))

  2. Thanks sooo much for asking Rati 😀
yeah, I too don’t like dipping the brush again and again, but the brush is Godsent for clumsy people like me 😛
