My Experience with Remington KF20i Ionic Heated Rollers:

remington-hot-rollers-

These looks more compact than the Babyliss ones. Initially I thought they would be the same size, but once I used them, I noticed that even the biggest roller in this kit is not really big. Hence, if you are looking for volume, you can skip this set. The Babyliss one has little bigger rollers, and more number of large rollers than this one.

The kit smelt very plastic-ky initially. When I heated it up, I could see some smoke, which I suppose was some extra plastic burning. This was a big disappointment for me. Later on, this never happened thankfully. This takes ages to heat up. Ten minutes is way too long in comparison to the Babyliss one. There is a similar indicator dot too, where the red dot turns to white when the rollers are ready to use.

They suggest that the socket where the rollers are placed should not be empty, while the kit is on. In that situation, when I turn it off, and place the rollers in my hair, the rest of the rollers cool down a little bit. This is again a bother for me. The rollers also feel little plastic-ky. They are not ceramic; they have wax filled in them which heats up.

They cool down in 15 minutes or so. I highly recommend using a hair spray for each section during and after the setting.

The rollers will give you slightly tighter curls, as there are no big ones. They have these very cute clips, which are not butterfly clips, but tight grip ones meant to go with the correct roller size. They also come with metal grips. I personally like the plastic clips over the metal ones. The down side of these clips is that, these do not grasp the scalp hair well, and fall loose. So, you should make sure that the clip holds the scalp hair when you place it, so your curl will not loosen up. Or otherwise, you could use your own butterfly clips with them.

The color coordination is really cool. The white grey black shows the size and helps you pick the right one while you are super busy placing your rollers. The rollers have smooth velvet to them which adheres to the hair section well. It rolls up similar to the Babyliss ones, only the clips are different. Cool down period for this is longer than the Babyliss one. This kit does not have an on-off button on it, you have to operate the mains only.
You get ten medium, 4 small and six large ones.

Try to place the large ones for the Mohawk section for volume, the small ones at the nape and the medium ones on the sides. The cool ends help the process of rolling the curler up, it does heat up much but only in the centre. If you want spiral curls, roll them vertically. If you want outward volume curls, roll them placing the roller horizontal. This is pure trial and error, keep trying to see what you can achieve.

Once done, the nails-like things on the kit are used to hold back your roller in place. I highly recommend buying a hairspray for using these. If you have straight hair, it will be difficult to achieve tight curls. I have naturally wavy to curly hair and I am okay with what I achieve. But somehow, I find that the ceramic rollers made my curls last longer than this one. This one hardly lasts on my hair, the curl lasts half a day may be in comparison to 9-10 hours from the Babyliss one. Also, I did not notice any frizz control like claimed.

Pros of Remington KF20i Ionic Heated Rollers:

• Compact to keep in your dresser
• Wax-filled for gradual heat
• Color-coded pins and clips
• Velvet smooth surface
• Classy black case
• 20 rollers are good enough for most hair

Cons of Remington KF20i Ionic Heated Rollers:P

• Smells and feel plastic-ky
• Heats up in ten minutes, which is way too long
• My curls don’t last that long in comparison to another ceramic roller set I have used
• Expensive
• The plastic clips are not very tight to get hold of the hair from the scalp
• I don’t like the look of that metal nail-like base of the kit

IMBB rating: 3.9/5

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Remington KF20i Ionic Heated Rollers?

Well, I feel invest a little more into a ceramic roller set. Though this is not bad, but if you have very straight hair, you definitely need a strong hair spray, to go with this one. I am happy to own it, but I will probably reach out for my Babyliss one more.
