How to Remove Dark Circles for Sensitive Skin

Ask IMBB Gang

Vidya Asks:

I need your help. I have dark circles for over years and it makes my face look dull. My skin is sensitive too.

I have tried many compact and foundation but nothing worked out.

Once after applying the foudation or concealer my dark circles become more prominent and they turn grey. And also I sweat a lot when i use either foundation or compact.

I have been using Loreal compact powder for over a year but it doesnt do a good job. Its like applying some normal face powder.

I would be grateful to you if you could help me with this.

  1. Hey Vidya, you can use serums formulated for eradicating dark circles. If you are not into chemical stuffs. you can try mixing a drop of sesame oil and castor oil and apply in thearea around your eyes. It may result at times in puffy eyes but its the best method to lighten dark circles over a period of time. sleep well and try to avoid stress. As for the foundation, check out the MAC ones. They might be costly but they cover up pretty well.

  2. dark circles are a sign of vitamin deficiency, you should see your doctor for a blood tests. Meanwhile you can use an orange based corrector under the eyes to fix greying problem, and a translucent powder like Ben Nye Banana Powder.

  3. In addition to what Shruti and Raji said, I would suggest the following –

use an eye gel (like Aroma Magic eye gel for e.g) before applying the concealer. it provides a good base and the concealer stays longer.
Concealers such as MAC prolong wear and Chambor work well (I have terrible dark circles and it does cover to a large extent)
Use a compact (MAC and Faces are pretty good) after applying the concealer.

    Other things that work –
use cold eye pads or even a chilled spoon (keep the spoon in the freezer for about an hour or so) and keep them on your eyes. it will certainly refresh your eyes.
    chilled cucumber slices

and dont give up on the eye creams/gels. they do take a while before you see any visible differnece.

I loved Raji’s tip about sleeping well and not taking on any stress. 🙂

  4. I have seen my mil using chandan with rose water, u may try! Apply them for some time before going to bed and wash off when it dries. Hope it helps 🙂

if you feel that applying concealer makes you even darker, maybe you have chosen a wrong shade, always apply the product in small amounts, don’t take too much product, set it with a loose translucent powder after applying concealer
We have so many reviews about selecting concealers, different concealers etc, in this blog itself…

  7. You should look at relaxing your eyes. I think I read this tip on this blog only. Take hot water and ice cold water in seperate bowls. Dip the towel in hot water first and keep it on both eyes for 30secs. Then do with cold water for 30 secs. Repeat 4-5 times. After this massage your eyes with almond oil for a min. This definitely helps reducing the dark circles.

  8. aroma magic almond eye cream worked fr me.
i used it once a day only.
For concealer, try MAC studio finish among the high-end brands or oriflame dual skin corrector among the budget brands. Set ur concealer with compact (MAC, revlon, oriflame compacts are good).

  9. Use a good under eye cream. There are loads available in the market to suit your budget. But remember that you need to use it religiously twice a day and have loads of patience. No under eye cream can work miracles. 🙂 Lastly as folks have already said, have fruits, veggies, water and a good night’s sleep of at least 7 hrs.
