11 Quick Ways to Remove Mehendi From Hands and Feet

The festive season is on its way. All of us love to wear mehendi at those festivals. Most importantly, a wedding ceremony is incomplete for the bride without wearing gorgeous mehendi designs. This is one of the most amazing ways to make your hands and feet more beautiful, authentic and attractive. But, we all know the problem. When mehendi is applied, it looks so beautiful. But day-by-day, it starts to fade and all the beauty starts to go away. Also, it looks really odd when you wish to wear beach dresses or you have to attend a corporate office meeting. So, here are eleven effective ways to remove mehendi at home. Let’s get started.

1. Warm water method:

This is the simplest way to remove mehendi stains. Just dip your hands in a bowl full of warm water for 15 to 20 minutes. Do it once in a day. Be cautious about the temperature of hot water. It should not be too hot. Alternatively, you can wash your hands frequently with warm water.

2. Lemon and water:

This method is very well known. As lemon has natural bleaching properties, it will help to lighten the mehendi stains. Just make sure that there is no wound or cut in your hands as lemon juice will make them worse. There are two ways to use lemon.
• You can cut a lemon and directly rub it onto your hands.
• Make a solution using lemon juice and water and soak your hands in it for 10 to 15 minutes. Do it once or twice a day.

3. Salt water therapy:

This one is the easiest way among all the methods. Take a bowl and pour some water in it. Then, add some sea salt. Soak your hands in it for at least 15 minutes once a day. Make sure that you don’t have any cut or wound in your hands.

4. Olive oil and salt therapy:

Pour some olive oil into a bowl and mix some salt in it. You can use regular salt or sea salt. Sea salt is always a better option. Make a thick paste and rub it on mehendi stains. Let the oil penetrate into your skin for at least 10 minutes. This solution is moisturizing also. And, you can do it many times a day. Only remember, as here is salt, so you have to cautious about the wound or cut in your skin.

5. Use anti-bacterial soap:

Mehendi stains can also be treated with anti-bacterial soap. Cleanse your hands with it. Do it 10 to 12 times a day or do it once every hour until the stains start to fade. Do not forget to moisturize hands after doing this.

6. Use regular body scrub:

This technique is a bit lesser known but is helpful. Take your regular facial scrub or body scrub and scrub it onto your stains. For just 2 to 3 minutes. Do it 5 to 6 times a day. Don’t forget to use a moisturizer after this.

7. Use toothpaste:

Well this one is quite weird, but this is a very effective way. Apply some toothpaste on the mehendi stains and leave it for 2 to 3 minutes. Then wash it off. This will help to fade the mehendi stains. But, using it regularly is not a good idea. If you feel irritation on the skin, stop using this method or try this every alternative day.

8. Bleaching:

Bleaching is also a good way to get rid of those stains. Take any regular bleach and apply on stains. Let it dry. Then, wash it off with clean water. Though this is helpful, bleaching is really harmful to the skin. So, apply this technique only in a very urgent case.

9. Baking soda:

This one is indeed helpful but baking soda is really harsh on the skin. So, use this method if removing the stains is really very urgent. Make a thick paste using baking soda and lemon juice. Apply this over the stains. Leave it for 10 minutes and then massage it with a loofah. Mehendi stains will fade to a good extent.

10. Apply chlorine:

Little awkward, isn’t it? If you are a swimmer, you already know about chlorine. Buy chlorine from any chemist shop and soak your hands in it for 2 minutes. You will be surprised to see instant results. But, do a patch test before using it on the skin. It can be harmful to your skin.

11. Hydrogen peroxide rubbing:

Soak a little cotton pad into hydrogen peroxide and then gently rub it onto your stains. Do this very smoothly. And, never do it repeatedly because one swipe will give you instant results. But, before doing this, make an appointment with your doctor. Using hydrogen peroxide is not a very good idea except in a very urgent case.

Some other points to note:
1. All the above-mentioned techniques can be also used for removing mehendi stains from your feet too.
2. Wear a dark colored nail polish to hide stains on nails. This is an instant solution.
3. If mehendi stains are on your clothes, then you can do the following things:
• Soak the clothes in detergent water and gently scrub the stain.
• Heat some milk and soak the cloth in it. Keep it for 20 to 30 minutes. Then, use detergent water paste to remove stains.
• Make a thick paste using baking soda and water. Let the cloth dry. Then wash. Always wash clothes using cold water when you are trying to remove stains. Lukewarm water will only make the stains more prominent.
• You can also use baking soda and vinegar to wash clothes. This is the most effective way to remove mehendi stains from clothes.

Hope all these will help you to get rid of those annoying mehendi stains. Stay blessed and happy, all my girls.
