Revised IMBB Sponsored Scheme and Review Submission Rules

Hi all,

This post has been pending a long time, since last year. With the new and stringent taxation schemes in place in India and our struggle to keep IMBB free from brand influence, we are revising some rules related to reviews and the sponsored scheme. These rules will come into effect from 1st September, 2018. Any reviews submitted before that will be governed by the earlier policy and sponsored scheme.

Review Policy

From 1st September, 2018, we will not be accepting any review that comes without a receipt. If you have products for which you do not have receipts, please submit the reviews before September. And do save receipts (or take a picture with your phone) every time you buy a product from now on. 🙂 From September onwards, even if your friend has bought the product for you and you don’t have a receipt, we will not accept it. Please send the receipt along with every review without fail.

Sponsored scheme for Reviewers Residing in India

From 1st September onwards, the sponsored scheme will be as following-

A. Points earned would be 1 point (= 1 rs) for every 5 Rs spent. So if you are spending 500 Rs on a product, you will be entitled to 100 points. If you are spending 600 Rs on a product, you will be entitled to 120 points. And so on.

B. Neither the points calculation nor points encashment will include taxes or customs or shipping. However, we will include taxes in both the calculations if you get the shopkeeper/websites to mention our GST ID on the receipt. Also, if you are reviewing a foreign brand, the price of the product would be taken from the brand’s website for calculation.

C. Points accumulated in a particular month have to be encashed in the next month itself. We will not be carrying forward points after the next month is over. Whatever points you have before August, please encash them this month itself. We will not be carrying forward any points from September, unless those points were accrued in August, 2018.

Sponsored scheme for Reviewers not Residing in India

From 1st September onwards, the sponsored scheme will be as following-

A. Points earned would be 1 point (= US $1) for every $4 spent. So if you are spending $16 on a product, you will be entitled to 4 points. If you are spending $60 on a product, you will be entitled to 15 points. And so on.

B. Neither the points calculation nor points encashment will include taxes or customs or shipping.

C. Points accumulated in a particular month have to be encashed in the next month itself. We will not be carrying forward points after the next month is over. Whatever points you have before August, please encash them this month itself. We will not be carrying forward any points from September, unless those points were accrued in August, 2018.

Some General Points Regarding the Scheme

  • This sponsored scheme applies to only product reviews submitted by writers. This includes all the product reviews published on IMBB from the 1st of September, 2018 and not earlier.
  • This would not apply to reviews of products which were/ are sponsored by IMBB itself. If you’re getting a product sponsored by IMBB, we’d not be giving any points or payments for the same. IMBB shall only pay for the product.
  • This is separate from our regular payment for reviews as per our JOBS page. The payment for your reviews would be done on monthly basis as earlier.
  • The product(s) you wish to buy should not have been reviewed previously on makeupandbeauty.com.  You can choose any product(s) for yourself as long as they are permanent products and not limited edition. We would count only those reviews that have been published and NOT the reviews that have been sent and lying in inbox. If we give the go ahead for the product you’ve chosen, you can go and purchase it for use.
  • Once you encash your points for a review, you cannot cash them again.
  • We would make the payment for the receipt submitted once we publish your sponsored product review.
  • You can also buy products which are priced more than your cashed points but you will have to pay the difference.
  • As per our earlier sponsored scheme IMBB does not pay for shipping or taxes.

That’s about it. No major changes. 🙂 Please do post any query in comment here and I’ll be glad to answer them. 🙂
