Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm Shade 125 Flirtatious
Today’s review is about a product that I share a love-hate relationship with – The Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in the shade Flirtatious – Shade 125. To be honest, I am a fan of this entire range from Revlon. They first came out with the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, then came the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms(Love) and finally the glossy version called the Lacquer Balms. I have all three and I have to say that the Lacquer Balms are my least favourite of the three. So do I like the “Flirtatious” me or will I give it a miss? Read on to know more…
The packaging: This product comes in a shiny glossy crayon like tube and the colour of the body is the colour of the lipstick inside which is great since you can pick the colour you want from your makeup stash in a jiffy. At the bottom there’s sticker with the shade name, number and a few more details. The packaging is pretty much the usual twist up style. I like the packaging.
The Product : The coIour is a beautiful sheer berry bordering on plum with a lot of shimmer. Like the name suggests, these lipsticks are high shine but not overly glossy and lend a nice shine to the lips and the glitter particles are fine enough to give that shine but not interfere with the wear of the lipstick or feel gritty. The “Balm” factor of this lipstick is amazing. I have to say that it keeps my lips hydrated even after it fades. The colour is not intense and a single swipe means a light wash of colour but you can layer it up to a better sheer coverage, it doesn’t go opaque. The scent/taste is the original mint associated with this range and I love it. I have three categories as far as the longevity of lipsticks is concerned. Poor – Good – Great. This one sits in the Good category as it stays easily for 2 to 3 hours and you will need to reapply twice or thrice a day. You’ll notice that Revlon have not added Balm “Stain” to this range and just called it Balm. It does not stain the lips and when its gone, its gone. I see this shade suiting almost all skintones, especially extremely fair or dark. The ones in the middle like me might have to work around it a little.
To sum it up, I don’t hate this lipstick, but I don’t love it either. If I don’t have this in my collection, I won’t miss it. The Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balms are a favourite and I absolutely love the Matte Balms but this one is OKAY. Just OKAY. I have given this one to my mom and she loves it.
Pros of Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm:
• Moist/ Doesn’t dry out the lips
• Good Pigmentation for a sheer lipstick
• High shine
• Nice packaging
• Smells good
• Glittery but not gritty
Cons of Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm:
• Longevity could be better
• Requires reapplication every 3 hours
• Transfers
• Opacity
Price : Rs. 800
Would I buy Revlon Lacquer balms again?
No. I’d rather buy the Matte Balms or the Jut Bitten Stains.
