Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm – Tease Review

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm – Tease

When summer rolled around this year, I started to crave for an orangey lippie, as I tend to do every summer. I seldom buy or wear orange lip colors the rest of the year, only during summer. My orange this year is the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Tease.

From the Revlon website:
Shine like never before with brilliant color infused with a Triple Butter Complex.
• High shine + balm-like moisture
• Infused with a Triple Butter Complex of shea, mango, and coconut butter
• Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required

Revlon Lacquer Balms are in twist-uppencils in shiny, reflective material. The color of the packaging is supposed to reflect the actual color of the lip product. In the case of Tease, the pen is a bright orange hue, giving the impression that this lippie is probably going to be a wildly bright color. However, on the lips, Tease is tame and soft. It’s surprisingly wearable.
It’s not so much orange as brown-tinged coral. More specifically, it’s a medium, orangey coral with brown undertones. It’s not verging on neon or pastel like the orange or coral lip colors typically released in summer collections. It’s safely in the medium category. It’s easy to wear and looks so pretty on the lips. I really like on my medium, yellow-toned, MAC NC 35 skin tone.

Tease applies sheer, but can be layered for a bit more color. I think most of the Lacquer Balms apply similarly, though some are sheerer than others. For example, Ingenue, the other Revlon Lacquer Balm that I own, is sheerer than Tease, but it’s also a lighter shade. I personally like this sheerness to the lippie. Handy, swipe-and-go lip pencils are my favorite these days, and being sheer, I don’t have to be so careful or precisein applying Tease. The finish of the Tease is shiny and it also contains noticeable glitter. I was kind of turned off by the glitter—I don’t like how visible it is on the lips. Also, after a while a bit of the glitter migrates to the top or side of my lips. But just like with the Ingenue Lacquer Balm, I’m willing to overlook my issues with the glitter issue because I like the base color so much.

The formula of it is similar to that of the original Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain, just with a little more slip. Tease Lacquer Balm has a sort of firm texture, but it has some slip to it and it applies smoothly on the lips. I don’t find it balm-like, and it doesn’t slide around on the lips, the way some glossy lip formulas do. It’s lightweight and is fairly comfortable to wear. I get 3-4 hours of wear out of the Tease Lacquer Balm if I don’t drink or snack much in between. It leaves a nice-looking, light stain of color on my lips.

Overall: The Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Tease is a nice, wearable coral with a summery vibe. It has a good amount of shine, applies smoothly, feels comfortable to wear, and I think it still manages to look good and not tacky despite the kind-of-chunky glitter. Personally, I like it a lot because of how easy it is to use in terms of color, formula, and packaging.

    1. These have a bit more shine and slip to them, Jomol. 🙂 I like the original Revlon balm stains too except they turn fuchsia on me. *specs*

  1. I have this one in a different shade and I absolutely love it!!! *happy dance* *happy dance* *happy dance* pretty lip swatch Ida *preen*

    1. It’s kinda sheer, but not too sheer. My arm and lip swatch are just one pass. The color deepens after another layer or two. 🙂 The matte ones though have a whole different level of pigmentation!
