Hope you all are doing good! I’m back reviewing another lipstick for you guys today. I’ve owned this lipstick for almost a year now and it only made sense to review it and share my experience on it. So, Revlon matte balms have been in the market for almost two years now and the shade “Sultry” is even said to be a perfect dupe for MAC Whirl, the shade that Kylie Jenner used to wear so much once upon a time. I have myself been a fan of these Revlon Colorburst matte lip balms because of their great shade range and texture. The lipstick I’m reviewing today is Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade “Complex” and the shade number is 230.

My Experience with Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm 230 Complex:
Packaging: The Revlon Colorburst matte lip balms come in a standard twist-up crayon like packaging. The packaging is all plastic and there’s nothing to complain about it except for the cap which has a little loose grip. I like this packaging since it’s easy to apply, it gives precision and the outcome is neat and the overall crayon-like lip balm is fuss-free.
Shade: The shade “Complex” is described as a peachy-n*de brown color. It has warm undertones to it; however, the warm undertones of this lipstick don’t matter because it is in fact a very light colour and it completely washes me out. I bought this shade thinking it would be a nice everyday-wear MLBB shade for me, but the moment I tried this lipstick on, I was taken aback by surprise. The shade is hardly what it looks like in the tube. It not only looks like a crayon in terms of its packaging, but it also has a crayon-like texture. It appears somewhat chalky on the lips. There is definitely some “streakiness” when I apply it on my lips. I personally don’t think this shade will suit Indian skin tones much and I’d advice those with pigmented lips to steer clear of this one. The pigmentation of this lipstick is good but it is immaterial because no matter which way I apply this lipstick, it washes me out nonetheless.
Texture and Pigmentation: Like I have already mentioned above, this lipstick is definitely chalky in texture. It is not one of those smooth-to-glide-on, creamy matte lip balms. I cannot even imagine myself wearing this lipstick as a lip balm because it does nothing to moisturize my lips. The lipstick looks patchy on my lips and it definitely accentuates fine lines and cracks. However, this is a very light lipstick and doesn’t feel heavy on the lips at all.
Longevity:
Given the fact that it completely washes me out no matter how I apply it, I haven’t worn this lipstick that much. Whenever I do tend to wear it, I put a dark lipstick underneath so it it balances out the light shade of this one. It lasts on me for 3-4 hours with light meals.
Pros of Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm 230 Complex:
- Good pigmentation.
- Shade range is good.
- Packaging is fuss free and travel friendly.
- Feels light on lips.
Cons of Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm 230 Complex:
- Emphasizes imperfections.
- Chalky in texture. It brings out the patchiness and flakiness on the lips.
- Not moisturizing on the lips despite being a balm.
- Very light color, it washes me out.
- Staying power is low.
- It looks absolutely hideous on me and I really regret purchasing this lipstick.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm 230 Complex?
No.
