Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm – 250 Standout

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm – 250 Standout

I remember the balm stain craze last year that many of makeup brands came up with a lip balm in a twist up pen form. While the hype is hot, I got 3 sticks all from Revlon and never tried from other brands thought I still want to get those Chubby Sticks from Clinique. Today let me share with you my review on a balm that is matte which sounds so new to me. The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout shade.

My Take on Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout shade:

The packaging of RevlonColorburst Matte Balms are very similar to that of Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains. They are in a twist up tube format that looks like chubby crayons which we all love for they are so easy to tote along, to use and don’t need sharpening. The silver bottom part is where you twist to propel product out. The only difference between the Matte Balms and Balm Stains is that the Matte Balms’ tube is matte and Stain’s tube has shine to it.

Like Balm Stains, this Revlon Matte Balm has minty scent and taste which I find soothing on lips. I got the shade Standout which is the only red in the collection that I saw on the shelf display at the time of purchase. It appears cranberry red to me. The color is quite similar to Maybelline’s 14 Hour Super Stay Lipstick in Continuous Cranberry which is tad bit brighter and redder. Standout, as seen on photos has more pink tone to it and is a tiny bit darker. For someone who isn’t comfortable wearing bright reds but is in the borderline, go give Revlon Standout a try. To me, its color is a toned town version of Maybelline’s Continuous Cranberry.
I love how this matte balm easily glides on lips without tugging or dragging. It is smoother to apply compared to any other matte lipsticks I tried in the past, including Maybelline’s Continuous Cranberry. I am impressed with the formula, it being a matte lipstick. It is super pigmented. One swipe gives so much color. The color you see on the tube is what you’ll get on lips. Super nice!

Now let’s go to longevity. It lasts for only 4 hours on lips with occasional drinking leaving tiny bit of stain on it. Eating would really wipe everything out on my lips, again leaving my lips with slight reddish tint. Well at least it fades evenly. This doesn’t bother me much since I find reapplying so easy with the balm’s texture and pigmentation. I find it not drying on lips on my first 3 days of use but after that, my lips started to dry out. It is winter here so I guess I must keep using moisturizing balms.
