My Experience with Revlon Colorsilk 5G Light Golden Brown Ammonia Free Permanent Hair Color:

Revlon Colorsilk is one of the brands that I have been using for a long time now. This is the lightest colour that I have tried from the Revlon Colorsilk range. This is the shade which has the strongest blonde hint to it. I had used this, a year back but this is some shade that I wouldn’t keep for long because it is so blonde. I normally go for lighter shades because they tend to really show up on the hair unlike the darker ones. It comes in a big box which has a cream and one colorant bottle.

I mix them in the bottle itself which has a nozzle. The nozzle makes it very easy to distribute on the hair evenly without missing a single portion. The texture is good enough and moderately thick. So basically it does not leak while applying on the hair. The smell is a bit obnoxious because it contains a lot of chemicals. The main problem with the colour is that you cannot use it twice because the mixture of the cream and colourant cannot be preserved. I keep it for a good amount of 50 minutes and then wash it off without a shampoo. I wash it with cold water and then apply the conditioner.

A conditioner sachet is provided along with the hair colour which does an amazing job. It totally smoothens out the hair and makes it tangle-free. The reason why I consider this better than other brands is because the colour appears on hair exactly as they show on the box. My hair does not look damaged after washing. Infact everytime I colour my hair it looks super glossy, smooth, soft and silky. The colour does not lessen out even if you shampoo daily. This shade has a blonde touch with hints of gold and copper blended in together. It is a great option to go for if you do not want extreme gold or copper shades. But this is some shade that you cannot try out instantly because this totally changes the look of your hair.

I would suggest to try some other darker shades rather than directly jumping onto this one. It does look brilliant and trendy, but only for the ones who can handle this. I would precisely call this shade “too hot to handle”! Plus, it is available globally, so touch-ups will also be pretty convenient. But just be careful before using this because this is a hair colour that does not suit everyone. I do not know how well it covers the grey hair because I do not have it. But I think darker shades will do a better job to cover grey hair rather than these lighter ones. Overall, this is my HG brand for hair colors and do try it, it may work amazingly for you too!

  1. It looks gorgeous on you Saloni. True that not many people can carry this shade confidently but loving it on you.

  2. You are looking extremely pretty Saloni. Not everybody can carry blond but you are totally rocking it lady 🙂 Sounds like a awesome hair color. Never heard before that it is this good. And moreover its so budget friendly :D. Really good for college girls

  3. heyy u look stunning in this shade 🙂
Do you color your hair at home? How often do you do that? Do you apply color at roots also? Or only along the length? I have many more questions like this. please do a detailed tutorial post on this, if possible 😀

    1. Yes i apply it to the roots too.. haven’t harmed my hair yet.. every 8-9 months i do a touch up.. and yes at home 🙂 yes i will surely do one anurima .. promise 🙂

  4. Hi saloni. I noticed that this pack which u ve used was the older. And now they sell the 3d technology in same shade. I wanna know if it will give same results. And also should we not shampoo our hair after hair coloring? On the pack the timing is 30 mins maximum. And u said 50 minutes so. Please help. Also have u used the revlon 31 dark auburn shade? Im planning to try it. But donno how it would turn. So if uve used pls share ur pic. Coz my complexion is almost like urs . Thanks

    1. Heyyyyy yes if the mention its the same shade then you can go for the improved version 🙂 You can still ask for the old one and if it isn’t available, then grab the new one.. I kept the colour for 50 minutes since I already had coloured my hair previously, so wanted the entire colour to come properly.. you can keep the hair from 30-50 minutes no issues 🙂 and yes after washing the hair colour with plain water, directly use the conditioner and not the shampoo since the colour will be fresh and shampooing might lead to removal of a bit of the colour.. you can shampoo 1 day later.. I haven’t tried auburn yet 🙁
