Revlon Colorstay 2-in-1 Compact Makeup and Concealer-150 Buff Review

Skin-tone: Fair to medium Skin-type: Combination and acne-prone

Hello sweeties,
I have always seen that better than the powder compacts, cream compacts give a flawless airbrush finish. I usually don’t use cream foundation, but this one attracted me because of the double duty claim of makeup and concealer. It is a new launch by Revlon, so though of trying it! See how it worked for me.

My experience with Revlon Colorstay 2-in-1 Compact Makeup and Concealer-150 Buff:

Packaging: The compact has a really nice packaging. It comes in a sturdy packaging, with the cream makeup topped up with the concealer pan. It has a sponge applicator inside, with a mirror. The pan is handy and see through, which is how we can see the shade of the compact makeup. There are 12 freakin’ shades available, which is just awesome. I did not have any issue with the packaging, but the compact is certainly on a pricey side, but I was expecting it to be good since it is a 2-in-1 product.

Shade, coverage, consistency and finish: The shade “buff” worked perfectly fine for my skin. But if you have a lot of yellow undertones, then I would suggest going for a shade darker, as this has those white hints which make you look like casper. But for me, it worked fine, since I have mild yellow undertones. The compact has a creamy consistency, which blends like dream on my skin. It goes smooth and blends well with the sponge applicator.

It gives an air brushed finish, which looks good. But since it has a creamy consistency, it looks cakey and made-up. I think that is the problem with cream compacts, that they look made-up. It looked made-up and anyone can make out, that my face is loaded with a compact. Over that, the concealer is a shade lighter than the compact which is why it grabs attentions to my imperfections rather than taking away attention. So the concealer did not work for me, as it does not hide imperfections completely.

It has a medium coverage and covers redness and dullness perfectly, but not scars and spots. The finish is matte and it does not break me out.

Staying power: The staying power is really average, for a compact makeup so expensive. It stays for 3-4 hours on its own, and a little longer when topped up with a loose powder.

It starts to fade, and I can see my imperfections after a few hours. It does not oxidize, but doesn’t stay for long either. So I don’t think it is worth spending this much for a compact makeup that doesn’t completely work.

  1. I got the same as a gift from someone, it works really well for me.
Although I applied it over my foundation and surprisingly even though it has SPF it photographed really well in flash 😀
Maybe you can try it over a thin layer of foundation 🙂
