Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red Review

Hi ladies,

I was going through my stash, which is something I like to do from time to time. It is the best meditation I do in my life – looking at my makeup and feeling overwhelmed. And, I found two of my favourite and most-used lip liners. These are Revlon ColorStay Lipliners in Red and Fuchsia. These are super affordable, long-wear liners and such accurate shades for most reds and bright pinks. This review is all about the ‘Red’ variant. Let’s get started.

Product Description:
Revlon® ColorStay™ Lipliner provides longwearing definition, helps lip color last longer, and prevents feathering and bleeding.

My Experience with Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red:

When I bought Ruby Woo I wanted a lip liner so that my lipstick remains sharp on the edges and does not feel smudged from the corners after a few hours of application. Honestly, I did not want to spend too much or equivalent to a lipstick on a liner, so I was on a lookout for affordable – exact or almost matching – lip liners. And, I came across Revlon Red.

Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red Packaging

Since this is a drugstore brand, I do not expect the packaging to be luxurious or something. The liner comes attached to a cardboard box with a plastic case. Nothing elaborate! The pencil is a twist-on liner and so slim that it feels fragile in hand. I will not travel with it unless I put it in a box. It is fragile and susceptible to breakage.

Let me be honest here (as always), it is not one of the creamiest formulas out there. This is a hard stick. Not very hard but not creamiest either. It spreads evenly on the lips and gives a smooth texture to work. Also, it intensifies the color, although Ruby Woo does not need that.

Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red Open

When applying a red lipstick I do not really want to play with the color tone even a bit. So, I apply my lipstick using the bullet directly and then shape my lips with this liner. This trick gives a sharp look to my lipstick application. Since Revlon Red is so close to my red lipstick’s shade it does not give two shades to my lips either.

The formula is easy to work with and does not break on a slight amount of pressure. I have had many accidents where twist-on liners would just break by getting in contact with lips. I feel this is an above average liner, which clings to dry patches and is drying, but it matches my Ruby Woo quite perfectly.

Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red Tip

It matches brilliantly with even Colorbar Soft Touch Lip Color – HOT-e. I have swatched them side-by-side for a better perspective. This is a deep red shade – not orangey red or blood red. This is a deep red that matches Ruby Woo, Russian Red, Hot E etc perfectly.

Would I Recommend Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red?
I am all in for more shades here. It is a bit drying but that’s not a problem for me since I do not wear just lip liners on their own.
