Revlon Colorstay Lipliners in Nudes Review

Revlon Colorstay Lipliners in Nudes

One of the main benefits of lipliner is that it prevents your lipstick from ‘bleeding’ into the feathered fine lines around the mouth. It provides a base on which to build further color, which gives a more professional finish and increases staying power of your lip colour. Some people skip lipliner for a more natural finish – but once you begin using it you will probably feel your make-up is unfinished without it! Lipliner is essentially used to outline the lips, either following its natural shape or using corrective techniques to alter the lip contours. It can be applied with varying intensity to provide a soft or hard outline on which to add further lip color.

Lipliner creates an underlying “lip palette” which determines the final shape of the lips once the rest of your make-up has been applied. I am a hoarder of lip liners because I feel my lipstick application is incomplete without a final stroke of lipliner on my lips. Although I have lipliner in almost every shade but my personal favorite is one in nude shades because this shade seamlessly blends with my lipsticks in light shades, whereas a darker lip pencil really appears dated and unflattering. Today I am writing about Revlon Colorstay Lipliners in Nudes which is my go to neutral lipliner now a days.

Product Description: Revlon® ColorStay™ Lipliner provides longwearing definition, helps lipcolor last longer and prevents feathering and bleeding.

How to apply: To create a polished lip look, define lips by applying ColorStay™ Lipliner to the natural line of your lips. To further increase the wear of your lipstick, fill in lips completely with ColorStay™ Lipliner and apply your favorite lip color.

Price and Quantity: Rs.550/- for 0.25 grams.

Colour: Neutral nude neither too pink nor too peach when layered lightly. However when I apply it twice or thrice to get darker intensity it appears slight brownish peachy or pinky or something in between.

My take on Revlon Colorstay Lipliners in Nudes:

Let me first talk about the packaging. It comes in black retractable packaging secured with a black cap which snaps tightly. There is nothing special about the packaging and one negative thing is that once you twist the product out it did’nt go back inside the case, that means you have to be careful regarding twisting the pencil only to that extant till the tip come out, otherwise more product will come out and while applying the product there is a fear of wastage of product as the product is prone to breakage. The liner is neither too smooth nor too creamy, and it stays put the whole day. As I’ve already mentioned it blends in with the rest of the color very smoothly for a finished look. One more rant is that we are getting very less quantity of only 0.25 gms for the hefty price tag of Rs.550/- for a lipliner.

The texture of the liner is not very smooth and feels waxy and drying. I can’t say that the lip liner doesn’t do the job because I think it does (I haven’t tried the lipstick without it), but it’s annoying to end up wasting product every time I use it. The color doesn’t show up at all on my lips and the liner keeps breaking. It was also very drying on my lips and made them look flakey.

Pros of Revlon Colorstay Lipliners in Nudes:

• Defines lips nicely.
• Nice neutral shade.
• Colour blends seamlessly and beautifully with lighter shades of lippies.
• Prevent lipsticks from bleeding and fading
• Staying power is good

Cons of Revlon Colorstay Lipliners in Nudes:

• Prone to breakage.
• Tad pricey.
• Just 0.25 grams of product.
• Feels waxy and drying.
• With the retractable packaging, once the pencil tip comes out, the same cannot be moved in.
• Can’t be applied as a stand alone lipcolor as it seeps in between fine lines and accentuate dryness/flakiness of the lips.
• Poor in pigmentation and color pay off fronts.

Rating: 2/5

Do I recommend this?

Nope, the price is highly inflated- there are cheaper and better options available in the markets.

  1. Sofia, excellent pics but i didn’t expected it to be a dud since i have used them earlier and liked them, u sure you got the original one?

    1. yaa sumera, i agree. Me too have one in maroon and one in chocolates, those two liners are good although price wise they also r inflated but this one is a real bummer. And yes it is the original one as i’ve purchased it from Revlon’s outlet from Infinity mall.

  2. sofia, nice pictures. are you sure you haven’t unknowingly got a dupe because i had these few time back back in different shade and they worked fine…

  3. i love such nude colorss.. can be used wid any shade.. may be this is an old one.. i have one from this range its not as dry as this one looks… 🙂 nice one 🙂

  4. Definitely skipping this one! You can also try Very Me Lip Crayon – Nude from oriflame. It doesn’t break and has great colour coverage. It can be used alone as well. It doesn’t get wasted while sharpening even. Total value for money and a must try.
