The brush is tucked into the lid, and rotates out with a twist of the top, and the makeup is stored down in the bottom half which is protected by the plastic cover on it..so when you want to use it just remove the cap and after using it again close it by the plastic cap and close the entire jar with the black cap…

WOW Factors of Revlon Color Stay Mineral Foundation

  • The color is very natural and blends seamlessly with the skin.
  • The texture of the foundation is very smooth and the foundation glides smoothly across the skin.
  • The finishing is not too matte or not too shiny.
  • It Contains SPF 10.
  • Easy to remove, just one swipe of makeup remover with the cotton pad and it gets wipe off..
  • The foundation works well as a powder to set the liquid or crème foundation.
  • Very first day I used directly on my face and got disappointment, so next day I tried it on my Lakme’s foundation and worked very well.
  • The application is very much easy and I am very much comfortable with the application. Put the brush inside the jar, tilt it little and just tap it a bit and the good amount of powder come on to the brush.
  • I have oily skin so it looks greasy after couple of hours but I think it will work wonder for the people who have dry skin.
  • Talc free.
  • Till now I have used it many times but it didn’t break me out..

What I don’t like about the Revlon Color Stay Mineral Foundation

  • As said by Revlon “Colorstay” and “up to 16 hours of wear”, I was expecting that it will last up to at least till end of the day but unfortunately it doesn’t. The effect of the foundation merely lasted for 3-4 hours and I had to reapply the foundation in afternoon.
  • Coverage is light to medium. So it doesn’t cover the skin blemishes and acne. So if you have lots of skin blemishes and imperfections then I would suggest using it after applying the foundation or concealer.
  • Limited Shade Range. As usual only 3 shades are available in Indian Market 🙁
  • Packaging is a little bulky and it’s very difficult to carry such a fatty bottle in your bag..
  • The foundation brush is also very scratchy and it really irritates the skin when you move it on your face.
  • It will start looking like cakey and chalky if you will apply more and more to cover the blemishes or acne.
  • Since I have oily skin, my face starts looking shiny and greasy again after a couple of hours.
  • It is bit pricey.. it was ok to pay so much if it really works as foundation but it works better as loose or translucent powder.. so paying 1050 for loose powder !!!!!! :-/

Makeup Experiment Result: Yesterday I tried this mineral foundation after applying max factor’s foundation… and guess what it works awesome.. Amazing.. :-))

So to conclude, it works wonder if you apply it after applying crème or liquid foundation. But I will not recommend it if you want to apply it directly as it will not give you the desired coverage and look. It was love-hate experience with my very first mineral foundation.

  1. My favorite mineral foundation was one by Almay – discovered it during a super-short visit to the US. I was kind of consoling myself that though I don’t get it in India can ask my friend to send it over, but apparently the packaging that I got has been discontinued there too! I am beginning to think the products that suit me are the least popular of the lot 🙁 Liked the Maybelline one too..but I don’t like that ashy look I get with it. Probably picked the wrong shade too. I think mineral foundations don’t give great coverage – are some kind of light makeup if that makes sense – but I love how nonirritating they are.
.-= Radhika´s last blog ..New at the Chanel Counter – Lifestyle, Koramangala =-.

    1. yeah Radhika..you are right.. mineral foundation doesn’t provide much coverage.. but if u dnt have much imperfection and blemishes then mineral foundations are great for u…

      1. Hahahhaaa….do you have to tell me that Rati..its been on my list since ever 😛 Right now happy with my Matt Lumiere actually…but waaaaaaaaant!!!

        1. I liked Max Factor’s foundation.. impressed 😉
so i m also planning to explore their other products.. lets c.. God bless me..

  2. wow that’s pretty pricey! but it’s nice if it works well as a setting powder over liquid foundation. i have no clue about mineral foundations available in india and i guess they wouldn’t work very well for me as i have dry skin and stay away from all kinds of powders. the bottle is so cute though!
.-= Rima Kaur´s last blog ..Beneath The Smiles =-.

    1. yeah its pricey… but what i feel bad is that they claiming it as foundation and it can be best use as setting powder… :pain:

  3. My God!! That’s expensive.. It works more like a loose powder than as a foundation.. I was planning to buy this but I guess I shall not. I use MAC pressed powder for setting my foundation.. Shall continue using it

A very detailed and nice review Ami

    1. Thanks Pri…

yeah the best use of this foundation is as loose powder only…. it doesnt fulfil the requirment if you use it on bare face… 🙁

Pls dont buy… MAC loose powder is best..

  4. Btw even I really like the packaging! It does look very cute. I am yet to try any mineral foundation so can’t say. Like Rima I have dry skin so I stay away from Powder formulations.

  5. Hey Ami… Nice review… Haven’t used any other mineral foundation than MF so cannot compare…

But I am off all mineral foundations… They oxidise, get darker and become useless after a while.. I don’t get enough coverage… I’ll prefer a cream/liquid foundatiohn any day!!!!

But mind if you love mineral makeup MF is a good product… And i am sure qualitywise all three of them must be similar….
.-= Mrunmayee´s last blog ..Jovees Gold Eye Contour gel- Review =-.

    1. Thanks Mrun.. 🙂

Me too feel so that quality wise all of three must be same… MF have light shimmer right??? this doesnt have shimmer…

I think I am also done with mineral foundation… one shock 😯 is enough for me.. 😛

  6. hi Ami as like tanveer, rima haven’t tried mineral foundation… i have acne scars so i’ll better stay away from it….

Also u applied this over ur lakme/Mf foundation den wat the use of buying a mineral foudation … indeed a complete wastage… :-(( 🙁

  7. I am off mineral foundations completely after all the reviews. 😀 ….I wouldn’t waste such an amount of money on these types. I could spot the effect on your outstretched forearm, but not on the flip side of your palm. One more thing, lovely slender fingers…………………what is that.. do you have specific exercise regime for your fingers too?????

    1. hehehehe… 😉
Thanks a lot Jomol…. It’s God’s Blessings that my fingers are like that only.. I dont do any exercise.. thanks ya 🙂

The other day I went to shoppers stop to check hows the Loreal mineral foundation… its the same.. light-medium coverage..

  8. I am not a mineral foundation person myself. I jut love my liquid and cream foundations. 🙂 Now I am wondering do we have any mineral foundation out here that could give a little coverage?? ?:-)

Thanks for the review , Amy. These Revlon SAs always try to push this foundation telling some zillion jazz about how amazing the foundation is. You just saved my money! 😛

  9. Welcome Rati… 🙂
Thanks a lot for ur comments.. 🙂
even i m thinking there is no single mineral foundation who can provide good coverage then wats the need of mineral foundation… ?:-)

    1. Yeah, I don’t think mineral foundations provide full coverage just out of the box. Even my L’Oreal True Match one provides a medium coverage at its best. As Mrunmayee said, quality wise all these 3 must be similar. I bought a mineral powder foundation because I like the feeling of running a brush over my face. 😛 So I like using the one I have. The only little glitch is that due to limited shade availability, the powder does not match my complexion. It gives an unnatual pinkish tint to my warm wheatish skin. 🙁

I’ve noted that if I use my Bourjois Mineral Matte buffer brush (350/-), I get very good (almost full) coverage with the L’Oreal mineral powder. The powder goes on smoothly, blending is superb, no streaks, stays put and doesn’t change colour on my normal-oily skin, does not break me out at all. HG foundation, you’d think? No, since there is a shade mismatch, it looks like I’m wearing a pink mask. 🙁

So I’d recommend L’Oreal True Match minerals powder foundation only if you can get a good match for your skin tone. Otherwise unless you plan to use the powder as a finishing powder and that too only sparingly, don’t risk it. Thanks for the review, btw, have waited for it. 🙂

  10. Ohh it is probably the brush too!! Never realized till I saw Sonal’s comment. My Maybelline one came with a nice brush – is a bit scratchy..well it is a drugstore brand – but its perfect for buffing the foundation in. And same for the Almay one. I love mineral foundations because they are the safest affordable foundations. They may not give the best coverage possible but at least they don’t cause any breakouts.

  11. Thank god and Ami for this article. It was just yesterday that I saw this product in the store and wanted to try..

I could see that the powder was so finely milled..Even better than L’Oreal. But somehow, I left without buying..Now I am having second thoughts.

  12. Wow A mineral foundation that too Paraben free available in India …. Thats good news. But I think it contains Bismuth Oxychloride. Remember reading the ingredient list somewhere . Any idea if it is Bismuth Oxychloride -free too ? If it is , am right away going and getting it .

  13. ma skin is acne prone oily skin..n i tried out revlon mineral foundation…nt oly dat dis product doesnt cover ma pimple,it causes pimpl :weep: wen i used dis 4 first time i dint noticd..thot pimpls r formin cos of food iregularitis. bt later i found dat, pimples appear on ma face d day aftr which i use dis prdt….so i dnt recomment dis product…n i dnt undrstnd wt dey mnt by color stay :reallyangry: …we cnt trust on dis for evn 3 hr part..
