Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation Review

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation

Hey Girls, This is my first post on IMBB and I am super excited since I found great help through IMBB.  I would love to share my experiences so that I can help some other makeup lover (kindly excuse me for any mistakes).

In my quest to find the perfect foundation (with lots of misses in between), I finally found my hit and something that really works for me in Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation and I am reviewing it here today.  This product does not give me a cake-y feeling and does not make me look like I have just walked out of the sets of “The Grudge.”

First of all, me getting this mousse was a fluke as I was looking for a good foundation and the SA showed me this product and told me it is better than any foundation.  I just got it because she highly recommended it, but if I can remember the girl, I can actually go and give her a hug (hehehehe).  I really did not know the difference between a mousse and a foundation, I know, so naive.

Now, this brings us to a major question about the difference between foundation and mousse???  Mousse-type foundation is so light and fluffy because it contains micro-air-bubbles that makes it very easy to apply to your face. It is far lighter than compact base yet offering similar coverage. It mattifies and smoothens oily skin. It is thick in consistency and not liquid.  A good-quality mousse foundation provides soft application, it ensures maximum comfort and natural-looking, satin make-up finish.

My Experience with Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation:

This is an amazing product that I have been using for over a year now and I have not been disappointed since it contains SPF 20, it is just a cherry on the cake.  Being a mineral mousse, it also is good for your skin.  It gives medium-to-full coverage, but intense imperfections may need concealer.  I got the shade “Deeper” which is a match for my skin tone.

It comes in a cute black tube which is travel friendly and its so easy to get out the desired quantity.  It has got a transparent patch and you can see through it and get to know how much product you have left.  Some might find it expensive, but since I have used it occasionally and sparingly, this tube has lasted me for over a year now and not to forget that a small quantity goes a long way.

The only bad thing is that it really dries quickly, so you have to work fast either with a wet sponge or a foundation brush sprayed with rose water (that’s how I use it) and remember once it sets, it really sets, so work fast or work half the face at a time.  Oily skin beauties will love this product because it gives a finish which is something in between matte and dewy glow without making the face oily or greasy and gives a natural finish.  It stays really really long, 10 -12 hours and still looks natural and it did not break me out.

Swatch of the product on my arm squeezed out of the tube.

After blending (notice how the ugly vein on my arm is so less visible and the finish is so fresh).

So, I conclude that this is an amazing product and totally worth the money.

Pros of Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation:

  • It is good for your skin as it is a mineral mousse.
  • Contains SPF 20.
  • Stays really long for 10-12 hours, almost lives up to its claim of 16 hours long wear.
  • Good for oily skin.
  • A little quantity goes a long way.
  • Travel-friendly tube.
  • Medium-to-full coverage.
  • Looks natural.

Cons of Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation:

  • Pricey.
  • Dries really fast and one has to really work fast in blending it.

Will I Repurchase Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation?

So all said and done, this is an amazing mousse and I will repurchase it, but first, I need to finish this current tube.

  3. I really want to try this one….Have been eyeing it since ages..thanks for the review Hana….really nicely written!! :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo:

  4. Nice review Hana! Revlon is really stepping up their game. A lot of their base make up is soo good. Even the soft flex one for oily skin has good reviews. And i love their concealer too. Will pick this up next. :waytogo:  :haanji:

  5. Hey nice review! I picked up the powder version from Revlon Colourstay’s mineral range recently….I am glad this is working for you…but my powder has so less staying power! I get oily within 3-4 hours(IN AC)…and even worse is the fact that I get oily partially(T zone) which gives my face an uneven look….this is quite wierd since I have never faced just-Tzone-oily prob before with any cosmetics… do you think the mosse would be better in terms of staying power???

  6. Thanks a bunch! I have heard such great things about the entire revlon colorstay range and have been wanting to try something for a while now. this looks just right for me. thanks for the great review 🙂

But I think I can avoid foundations for a few more years so I’ll just choose something like the lotus/lakme foundations to use as TMs.

    1. thanx pragnyadeepta…..u can use dis mousse occasionally on the really bad days when ur skin is dull…or 4 an outing…dats wht i do

  10. One query …. Does this transfer??? As in if I touch my face or my face touches anything will it come off??? I’m ordering thisike right now so waiting for Ur answer :))

    1. well it did not transfer when i touch it infact as i said if it sets and forms a smudge(dry patch) it wont go away till u like get water or somethin and wipe it off…..
