Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Miami Fever for an Orange-y Pout

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Miami Fever for an Orange-y Pout

Hello Beautiful People,

Today I am here with my first ‘Stain’ I bought from ‘Revlon’. The product is good but I am not super impressed by it. The shade is in ‘Miami Fever’, the name sounds very interesting. Revlon has launched 12 shades of these, but my local outlet has only 6 shades of these, within which three of them are really pretty, and they’re Barcelona Nights, India Intrigue and Miami Fever.

Description:

  • Drenches lips in a glossy wet color.
  • Ultra-light creamy lip stain with Vitamin E and Aloe.
  • 88% of women felt lips were instantly moisturized without stickiness.

Price: INR 675 for 8 ml.

Packaging: The gloss comes in a rectangular shaped bottle. The body of the tube is translucent type by which you can detect the inside shade, it’s fully color coded with a black cap. The applicator is of a tapered tear drop shape. The applicator is very user friendly, it picks decent amount of gloss, and you can use both the sides to complete both upper and lower lips at once. The packaging is really up to the mark and travel friendly too.

My Take on Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Miami Fever:

In this post I’ll compare this stain with the previously released ‘L’Oreal’ and ‘Maybelline 10 Hour Stain gloss’ which was one of its kind and the L’Oreal ones really impressed every one of us, and the Maybelline one was an average one, but rather on the pigmented side.

Shade: ‘Miami Fever’ is a vibrant orangey red color or a vermillion orange color. Initially the color appears a bright vermillion orange color, but as soon as you apply it on lips it turns a little reddish in color. The color is such that it’ll instantly brighten up light to slightly dusky complexions. The color is bright but not gaudy; it can be worn every day. Revlon did a great job by launching such vibrant pretty pinks, oranges and nudes too which ‘L’Oreal’ and Maybelline lack in their collection.

Texture & Finish: I am really confused with the kind of texture it has, the stain is actually not very glossy or neither very watery like those Maybelline stains. The texture is very creamy but not super moisturizing on lips; it provides just the slight needed hydration on lips. It glides very smoothly on lips and feels quite lightweight on lips. The formula is like when you apply the color on lips, it goes opaque but then it sort of melts down on lips which also makes the stain bleeds terribly from either side of lips, so I think a lip liner is compulsory with this stain. After few minutes of application the color changes from neon orange to reddish orange and the super creamy glossy layer starts fading after 1.5 hrs. The stain doesn’t gives super glossy or wet finish like ‘L’Oreal stain’ but it imparts just a slightly juicy & glossy kind of finish on lips, which barely lasts. 🙁

Pigmentation: The colors are pretty vibrant but they don’t go opaque like Maybelline stain. But the stain is decently pigmented, 1 layer of it can cover flaws of lips well, 2 swipes will go extremely opaque, but it’s very tricky to apply it in layers, as there are 100% chances of bleeding, but it’ll also go streaky if layered. The color doesn’t sets like L’Oreal or Maybelline ones, so you’ll have to spend a lot time to carefully apply it evenly.

Staying Power: The creamy sheen of the stain lasts on lips for 2.5 to 3 hrs. The freshly applied color starts fading unevenly after 1-2 hrs, but the mild stain of color and creamy feel will last up to 3 hrs, with light eating and drinking, it won’t survive a heavy meal. And the stain stays for more 1 or 2 hrs, it’s not that it stains heavily, only a light tint of color can be seen, the stain is water proof up to some extent the creamy layer or the color won’t gets completely washed off when comes in contact of water directly. The worst part of the stain is that it’s not transfer proof, it’ll transfer to everything, which makes the color fade away quickly.

Pros of Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Miami Fever:

  • The color is very bright orangey red color.
  • Will instantly brighten up fair to slightly dusky complexion.
  • Texture is very creamy, glides effortlessly on lips.
  • The formula is not heavy; it feels extremely light on lips.
  • Packaging is very decent and travel friendly.
  • Pigmentation is very good.
  • Applicator is something new and very user friendly.
  • The colors are very pretty and vibrant, comparing to the other stain launched in the market.

Cons of Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Miami Fever:

  • For me the major con is the bleeding part, I didn’t use a lip liner with it and I am sure almost all of us won’t think of using a lip liner with stain.
  • The products claims ‘moisture’, but it’s not super hydrating on lips like L’Oreal ones.
  • Staying power is very low, considering that it starts fading after 1.5 hrs only.
  • I didn’t like the color changing aspect of the product.
  • Being a stain it’s not transfer proof, but L’Oreal ones are up to some extent.
  • Application will become streaky if the stain is layered.
  • The stain has a synthetic kind of smell to it.
  • The application will take time, if you want to layer it on.

IMBB Rating: 3/ 5.

Would I Recommend Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Miami Fever?

Just as a ritual of buying a new launched make up stuff from a famous brand you can pick a shade of your choice. These ones aren’t really a competition to L’Oreal stains. But the shades varieties are really bright and girly. These are good but aren’t great in any way.

*My little Haul, I bought some of them online and some form SS. I bought 2 Lakme Creaseless lipsticks in Wine order, Rose Alert and Revlon Super Lustrous Lip gloss in Fatal Apple & Fuchsia Finery and Deborah Milano Red Lipstick in orange Brocade (11) & an eyeshadow in Peacock Blue. Some Essence Products and a Jordana Lip gloss.
