Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eyeshadow in Onyx Review

Hi Girls,

Hope you are doing well. The summers are in and it is nice to see everyone flaunting beautiful pastel and floral outfits.  It has been a long time since I was waiting for the black matte eyeshadow from Colorbar. They are always out of stock.  My search for the black eyeshadow once landed me at the Deborah counter a few days ago and I found a nice black eyeshadow, but unfortunately the piece was damaged.  After I learnt about the new Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links, I headed straight to the Revlon counter at Shopper’s Stop in search of “merawala black.”  Though I could not find the jet matte black eyeshadow, but this little beauty and the price convinced me to pick it.

My Experience with Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eyeshadow in Onyx:

I was a novice in eye makeup a few years ago.  The colors though did look exciting, I could never imagine what each one meant and how they would help me enhance my beauty, until I stumbled upon a few eye makeup tutorials on IMBB.  The smokey eye makeup was always my favorite and I am slowly learning the tricks of the trade. I have scanty eyebrows and have been using dark brown/black eye shadows that came with my large makeup palette to fill the same, but at the back of my mind, I was in desperate need of a single black eyeshadow since I saw the Colorbar one.  Another reason being that I don’t want to carry a huge makeup palette for my trips for just a few colors.

After reading a few reviews about the new Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links eyeshadow, I was fascinated and began my journey for the black eyeshadow in Revlon. The counter had only 10 colors and the black matte was not a part of them. Still the Onyx shade also looked fascinating, though I could see a lot of silver glitter, they did not appear gritty.

The size and packaging is amazing. This little beauty comes in a nice black rectangular casing with a transparent lid. The packaging has a provision on the side to attach other similar eyeshadows and make it a nice customized eye palette. They can be easily carried and are suitable for travel.

Oynx can be described as the darkest grey with silver shimmer. The staying power of this color is average but the intensity is buildable; however, the same can be dealt by using a good base. The shade looks nice for evenings as it has a bit of shimmer. It looks decent and natural when used to fill the eyebrows as its not the darkest black. There is no brush or mirror with this, but I guess it will be too much to ask for at this price.  Overall, it’s a nice purchase and I am quite happy and excited about trying the bright coral eyeshadow.

  1. looks really pretty in the pan.. infact the color actually is so gorgeous. try using it over a primer. That definitely helps with the staying power. good review 🙂

    1. Hey Rati *happy dance* . how are doing.. Sure will try with a primer *puchhi* . I have super oily eyelids and any eyeshadow creases very quickly on me even when I try with NYX eyeshadow base.
