Revlon is slowly becoming my favorite brand.  I have bought quite a few Revlon products in the recent past and I am quite pleased with all of them.  Today’s review is about a Colorstay Moisture Stain in the shade “Shanghai Sizzle.”

My Take on Revlon ColorStay Shanghai Sizzle Moisture Stain:

If I can write it in three words, I would say – I love it. There is not a thing not to like in this except the usual ones that accompany a gloss like transferring on to cups.  The best part is that it is long lasting, not like the matte lipsticks but as compared to glosses, it lasts very long. Say about 2-3 hours and then it leaves a nice sheen on the lips. Since my color is “Shanghai Sizzle,” which is basically a red color, the sheen is also light red on the lips and it then feels like a light shade gloss.

It is quite thick and not like other stains. I had once used Lotus lip stain and it was very light in texture and shade building and also it did not build up any color on the lips. This one is thick though but it feels light on the lips and it builds awesome color on the lips.

The shade is red, you can call it sizzling red. So, I am sure it would suit all skin tones and complexions. Though out of personal choice, some may find it blazing hot. I like it anyhow.

A little problem is that it bleeds and transfers.  So, one has to be careful during application.  Nevertheless these cons are there with every gloss, so I am giving it the due respect and appreciation it deserves.

Like I said, it is quite pigmented and in the end, it gives a shiny, sheeny glossy look to the lips.

One word of caution – ladies with dry lips need to apply a balm underneath. Else, you might complain of dry lips post its application. It is not drying in itself but it is also not moisturizing.

Pros of Revlon ColorStay Shanghai Sizzle Moisture Stain:

  • Shade is amazing; would suit all.
  • Highly pigmented, so one swipe does the work.
  • Lasts longer as compared to other glosses.

Cons of Revlon ColorStay Shanghai Sizzle Moisture Stain:

  • It bleeds and transfers on to cups just like all glosses do.
  • It is not really moisturizing. I mean you need to apply balm beneath it to save your lips from chapping.

IMBB Rating:

3.5 only because I am not a gloss lover. Gloss addicts would rate it higher than 4.

Overall Recommendation:

If you love glosses, you will love this.
