For the first time in life, I am confused about what to write about a lipstick 😛 I can very well see this wont be going down very well with others, nither the lip balm/stain/tint lovers not the hard core lipstick lovers like me! I can see this would be attractive enough at first go but as it settles, with time, most of us wont be liking it. If you have DRY lips, then please stop reading, this could be a little too much for you. *jalwa*
Last weekend I visited the revlon counter and shopped some other stuff, mainly i went past every counter to see whats new so i could review it for you guys, BTW Lakme had testers but they did not have pieces of the lip tints to sell, priced at 800! i have gotten pictrues for you all to see the lip tints and see if you fancy anything, will be putting up pictures in the next review, but unfortunately I could not pick up any tint at the moment, but likes a couple of them only, and did not fancy them much any way 🙁 Check this gorgeous one from Lakme reviewed by Mansi meanwhile. The SA also said she would be receiving just three pieces each this weekend, it is more or less a limited edition product, *yawn* why I am not thrilled Lakme?
The shade is a coral red, but looks more coral after setting, it is kind of transfer-proof, and survives a shower and a light meal too.
Anyway lets come back to this new release from Revlon, called ultimate suede, these look like balm, then a tint and then settle for a matte coat on your lips, it really took me by surprise as I did not think this would be a matte finish at the end and i am not a fan of tints and lip stains but got this one to try out.My my it turned out just as matte as I like them to be but hang on, I dont think I am in love with this one.
Gorgeous packaging!
The texture is exactly like a tinted lip balm, it does feel a little sticky and then then in under 3 minutes it feels sticky and then in the next two minutes it sets to a dry powder matte finish! Fancy that?
I had half expected this product to set to a matte. I thought this is just like a lip tint but no. Initially it feels sticky, in the next five minutes this coral red turned a very pretty orange coral on me, I really loved the way it turned out, matte and orange-y and it really looked like a natural lip stain look.
I would not say it formed a thick coat on my lips, but in more than two swipes it will fee very cakey, I did not find it cakey but find it natural and light not dry too, REMEMBER I never have chapped lips and most lipsticks dont make me dry but if you are not fond of dry looking lips or have dry lips, then stay away.
It made my lips LOOK very dry, like you can see, but I did not feel any discomfort per say but I think if you stay in a dry place or air con then this could be a disaster. It will last really long like 4 hours with meals, it survives food and still has a lot of color left on. After sometime though, or after a meal you see the inside of your lips have no color, this is what I simply HATE about it, you can see the color after a meal on the outline of your lips, when the inside is bare! Urgghhh! It starts to flake and look patchy and cracks too, thankfully it is not so bad when you apply just one single light coat, you wont find it getting patchy then.
If they are trying to bring out something in tune with the Mayelline 14 hrs ones, then these feel very different, though they are long lasting, I am not impressed with the balmy texture, the pigmentation, it feels very uneven, the way it cracks and flakes as the day passed and by the end, you can see only an outline of the shade.
I am looking forward to using this with a gloss, or as a base to other glosses or lippies, which need some pigmentation. YOu will not like how non-moisturised look and feel, and what starts off looking as a tinted lip balm, turns on to be a stain and then a coat and then flakes away.
I will be testing some more shades, you see how many they have, i love the way it looks on me and my complexion which means I love the coral color but it will be a product I use when I am indoors for that mild lip tint, or when I want a base to a gloss.
Immediately after application
After 5 minutes (like it at this point, the color I mean)
After light meal:
