Shades Available = 9 internationally, but in India only 3 shades have been launched which are:
- Light Beige (for light skin tones).
- Sand Beige (for medium skin tones).
- Toast ( for dark skin tones ).
Unfortunately, the shade selection is very low. I got the shade “Light Beige” in it. Like most SAs at cosmetic counters, the SA at the Revlon counter held my wrist and started blending it and kept praising the product in the meanwhile. I told her I wanted to get it done on my face and I could clearly see on her face that she was least interested. Anyway, I had no intention to buy myself a wrong shade for 700 bucks worth of product.
So, I took out a wipe out of my bag ; cleared one side of my face, sanitized my hand and applied it with fingers. In the mall, with all the high voltage lights, it looked nice. I also checked it in daylight then and found it was quite a decent match for my NC 25 skin tone, just that it lacks that yellow tone which I need.
Here is how the shade “Light Beige” looks like.
The product comes in a neat, sturdy, round, khaki-colored plastic casing. It comes with a vanity mirror and sponge applicator. Beneath the compact pan, there is a separate compartment which holds the sponge. The packaging is pretty decent and I like it. It is also lightweight enough to be carried around in your bag.
My Experience with Revlon New Complexion One Step Compact Makeup:
Revlon makes one of the finest makeup bases (I am a big fan of Revlon Colorstay and Photoready Foundation) in drugstore brands and that was one reason this “one-step compact makeup” caught my attention at the Revlon Counter.
It has this soft, creamy formula, which is not thick and blends into the skin wonderfully in no time. I dot it all over my face, spritz my Cinema Secrets Moisture Spray and use my fingers (clean, sanitized fingers I mean) to blend it in. I have also used it with a sponge/foundation brush and both give a nice, non-streaky effect. To each her own way!
The compact gives a beautiful, natural, even, flawless finish to the face. Even if it’s a creamy formula, it dries off to a powder finish. It reminds me a lot of Colorbar Triple Act Compact, but obviously, I like this Revlon one more over the Colorbar one in terms of quality (though I found a super close match to my skin tone in Colorbar and the shade “Light Beige” I got in Revlon lacks the yellow tone I need).
The compact gives a little more than medium coverage to the face and covers well light spots and blemishes on my face. I don’t need a concealer at all when I use this. No wonder it is called “one-step makeup.”
I love the fact that it feels so weightless/light on the face even after giving good amount of coverage. The finish it gives is very natural without getting cakey.
Coming to the skin type, this would be apt/good for; at the moment (in winters), my skin is more of combination-dry as compared to oily in summers. I use a moisturizer underneath this and I don’t see that it makes my face greasy even after a long day out in the sun even without a primer. So, I would suggest this product for normal-combination to oily skin people.
The staying power of the product is good too. It lasts/looks well for at least 6-7 hours on me and with a primer, the staying power definitely increases.
Overall, I like this compact a lot. It is my go-to product when I don’t have much time to spend on base makeup. This is a quick solution to achieve a perfect canvas. If you are able to find a match for your skin tone in the 3 shades available, do give this a shot.
