Revlon Double Twist Volumizing Mascara (Waterproof) Review

The Revlon Double Twist Volumizing Mascara is a waterproof one with a spectacular brush. The name ‘Double Twist’ did not make much sense to me when I approached the counter. I always make sure to look at the brush as I do not always try a product before buying. I was taken aback and my first question was, “Wouldn’t it poke the eye?” Honestly, it did take me a few weeks to get used to it. Also because I generally prefer normal mascaras not waterproof. This comes only in waterproof form and the colour is called Blackest Black.

What it claims

“Revolutionary brush combines traditional bristles with innovative defining bristles for luscious volume and remarkable definition. Apply mascara to lashes as usual. Opthalmologist-tested. Safe for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes.”

Ingredients – Iron Oxides, Acrylate Copolymer, Triacontanyl PVP, Aloe Extract, Pantenol.

The packaging is a bright red colour tube that originally comes with a normal cap. This is provided in case you want to wash your brush without letting the formula go dry. How thoughtful! It comes in a neatly packed plastic case with the description and instructions mentioned on the back.
brush

As you can see in the pictures the brush is quite something! There are two kinds of bristles here – one is tiny black bristles which are densely packed and the other is red spikes which are relatively bigger in size and wide-toothed. Why the name Double Twist? Because you need to rotate the brush starting with the red bristles and then the black bristles to really work it.

The formula is just as great as it stays on all day. I’m currently trying hard to survive the Delhi heat and this mascara is the only thing that passed the test even when I accidently rubbed my eyes at the end of the day.

However, this takes a while to get used to. As the brush is quite different than the usual one, it CAN get into the eye. When you first take it out, it pulls out quite a bit of product so you need to go slow during the application on the first eye. For the other eye use whatever is left on the brush as it should be enough. You can always go back for me. But trust me, you do not need a second coat with this.

While removing makeup, use a cream based product and this will come off after a few wipes. Do use a cleanser as the mascara on removal tends to become goopy and can get into the eyes. The mascara on its own does not sting the eye so thumbs up for contact wearers and those with sensitive eye! [I fall in both categories]
Price – INR 550 for 11.8ml

Pros of Revlon Double Twist Volumizing Mascara

Volumises the lashes and does not make them clumpy.
Stays on all day even in the heat.
Does not make the lashes brittle owing to the aloe extract in it.
Does not sting the eye.

Cons of Revlon Double Twist Volumizing Mascara

Removing this could get messy.
Takes getting used to. First couple of times, it can poke the upper waterline if not careful.
A little over budget.

It is a little over budget for me and I prefer the normal formula so I may not purchase this again although I definitely recommend. I am saving the brush for sure!! Hope the pictures help you decide.
