Revlon Nail Enamel Remover Extra Gentle Review

Revlon Nail Enamel Remover Extra Gentle Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I am reviewing Revlon’s Extra Gentle Nail Enamel Remover.

To start off, a nail-polish remover is very important to someone who paints their nails often. Most of the nail polish removers have acetone in it. Acetone is a harmful chemical as inhaling or swallowing acetone can lead to skin, eye, and respiratory-tract irritation, coughing, dizziness, headache, depression, narcosis (chemically induced stupor), and unconsciousness. Also acetone tends to dry out your nails and the skin around it. So began the search for a good, cheap acetone free nail-polish remover. To avoid acetone poisoning, switching to non-acetone nail enamel removers is a better option. Although, these are very slow to fully dissolve and take out the polish, yet they are much safer than the acetone containing ones. To increase their effectiveness, when using non acetone nail enamel remover, soak the cotton ball a little more than usual and rub the nail a few extra times too. Non acetone nail polish remover, though a little pricey, is better smelling and gentler than those that contain acetone. Unlike acetone containing nail-polish removers, which make the nails dry and brittle, these nail polish removers’ help in maintaining the beauty and strength of the nails.

My Take:

I have really thin, brittle and sensitive nails. I have always found it a little bit difficult to grow it out to whatever length I want. They crack really easily and I usually used to apply a coat or two of nail-color to give them that extra bit of protection. But the minute I take it off, my nails start cracking. My nails are weird, I know! So I decided to use a nail-polish remover for sensitive nails. The Revlon’s one was the one I picked and I really liked it once I started using it. It was definitely gentle. It didn’t feel acrid on my skin neither did it feel dry.

This is how the product looks. It is a purple liquid.

I actually had 2 coats of 2 different polishes i.e. black and nude and also a coat of base coat. So be the judge yourself.

Pros of Revlon Nail Enamel Remover Extra Gentle:

• It is ACETONE-FREE.
• It removes the nail enamel pretty well with a little bit of product. If the no. of coats are more, then it will take a bit more product.
• Leaves nails healthy, not dry or stripped.
• Blends of triple dissolvers for fast action. (that’s what the product claims and I don’t see anything that suggested otherwise)
• My nails stopped chipping so much.

Cons of Revlon Nail Enamel Remover Extra Gentle:

• The smell is really acrid but I guess you can’t help that.

Would I Repurchase This?
YES! As a matter of fact I haven’t gotten another nail enamel remover since I started using this one.

  1. Nice review, Sneha. :)) I should get this, I keep using Acetone even though I know I shouldn’t and it dries out my nails horribly.

  2. Nice post Neha… 🙂

Can anyone tell me how i can get some avon products?
I tried contacting local avon reps but not able to get anything.
I am in coimbatore and this place seriously lacks cosmetic outlets 🙁

  3. i guess i did not like it too much coz it was such an effort to remove nail paint with this.. i didnt realize that this was acetone free :yikes: guess i should get back to this. 😀 These days I am relying on nail paint remover pads bt keep a remover bottle handy just in case. 🙂

  4. Thats great Rati.. 🙂

  9. I used this and it took so long to remove the polish (had to use one cotton ball per nail), but the most frustrating thing I didn’t expect was that it had a terrible affect on my skin! My finger tips have been flaking skin now for a week since I used this product and the skin around my nails is dry and flaky also. It’s only on the tips that came into contact with the cotton soaked with remover. I am a licensed cosmetologist and have NEVER had this reaction to any polish remover before. I will never use this product again.

  10. Hi Sneha try biotin supplements for nails they will be stronger atleast.
I wore same nail color suggest , next time you may try try colorbar nail polish remover it is also acetone free and will clean better than above swatches. Tried same today. Take care.
