Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator – Pink Light

Hello gorgeous ladies,

I was very busy these past few days, though I try to squeeze time to read all the lovely reviews, I was not able to comment or give honest opinion on any of them. So today I am back with my first highlighter review. After watching numerous makeup tutorials, illuminators or highlighters were one product that piqued my interest a lot. Even when I entered the world of makeup, I knew all the basic products used for applying makeup except for highlighting and contouring. I have yet to enter the forte of contouring, but have made my first move towards highlighting. So lets see my initial experience.

My take on the Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator – Pink Light

When I had a thought of purchasing a highlighter, I decided to go with Revlon to be on the safer side regarding the price. If I did invest in a high-end brand and that turns out to be a dud or an over illuminator, it would be heartbreaking. So I bought this one and as always I have this tendency to sway towards anything pink and hence here is pink light.

The highlighter comes in a baby pink plastic tube which denotes the shade inside and a glossy black screw cap quite strong and sturdy to toss around in your vanity. It is a rectangular shaped tube which has a total flat surface, like an LED TV, hope you all got it., a unique shape from most other cosmetic products. The liquid inside is a champagne pink, it looks more white actually after blending, with micro shimmers that gives a glow to your face. It has a semi-thick consistency but can be quite messy, not sometimes but always. The product is dispensed through a nozzle which does not have any control over the flow of the product, so it has to be held in an upright position every time you apply it.

I apply the liquid on my higher cheek bones, bridge of my nose and cupids bow with my fingers, just dab a little where you need to highlight and give a soft blend to achieve a glow on your face without the shimmery effect. I feel its best to use your fingers rather than a brush as it is a liquid highlighter and fingers will help you in precise application. There is no difficulty in blending, just a light touch and dab is enough to illuminate your face. The texture of the liquid is soft, smooth and velvety and gives a soft and subtle glow to your face without making your face look like a disco ball. It is quite suitable for all ages and does not give an ‘over the top’ look. It is also very light-weight and gives a natural look to your face without making it dry or oily. A little product is enough to bring the glow to your face, I think I can use this for ages. It also has a decent staying power, stayed around 5 to 6 hours on my dry/combination skin over foundation and then it faded into oblivion. The staying power might become less for oily skin types.

I am not quite fond of the fragrance which tends to be more like a nail polish remover, but once you apply it, the scent never bothers you. It can also be mixed with foundation to give a soft glow all over your face or any other areas that needs special highlighting. I think it is best suited for fair/medium skin tones as it might stand out a bit stark on dusky skin tones and also a great one for beginners like me. Overall I love this product and its definitely worth the price.

  1. Wow… Jotsna… This is looking superb on u… So subtle yet so beautiful… I have it in shade bare lights… And I love it… Though not of much use in this horrid summer

  2. *thankyou* Arpita, I really want to try bare light, and here however hot the climate, its always car to shopping mall or any other place, Middle east heat is unbearable, so all the places hav a/c and we never have the need to walk outside. So trying out cosmetics does not have a climate barrier here
