My Experience with Revlon Poppy Ultra HD Lipstick:
Packaging: The lipstick comes in a silver tube with a clear plastic cap. The cap fits tightly which makes it travel friendly. The shade name and number are printed on a sticker at the bottom of the tube, the color of the sticker being the same as the lipstick color. This makes it easy to spot the color among your other lipsticks when stored with the label on top. The con here is that the lipstick bullet does not swivel down completely into the silver tube, so a section of the lipstick is still exposed when you are taking off or putting the cap back on. Unless you are very, very careful, you cannot avoid nicking the lipstick with the cap when you take it off or put it back on. Another point to note is that the quantity you get is only 3 gm as compared to the standard 4 gm.
Color: Poppy is a pretty medium red with a slight hint of orange. This is a great option for a first red lipstick! If you are not comfortable wearing bright reds, this is a good starting point as you can build the intensity as desired.
Pigmentation: The HD lipstick range is supposed to be the upgraded version of Revlon’s lip butters. So, I was not expecting a strong pigmentation, but with this red shade in particular, you get an almost opaque coverage with one swipe.
Scent: The lipstick has a sweet candy like scent which disappears soon after application. I really like the scent!
Texture: Revlon describes this formula as a wax-free gel. It feels very slick and creamy when you apply it on your lips. It glides easily without any patchiness. It does not dry out the lips and feels quite comfortable and lightweight on the lips. I find the formula comparable to the Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks.
Finish: The finish has a slight sheen, not overly glossy. It does not accentuate dry spots on the lips.
Longevity: Lasting power is decent for this lipstick. I get about 4 to 5 hours with no eating, before it starts fading. But the lipstick fades evenly without looking patchy. Due to the creaminess, it does transfer quite a bit and will not be able to survive a meal but it does not bleed or feather. It does not leave any tint on the lips.
Pros of Revlon Poppy Ultra HD Lipstick:
- Pretty medium red with a slight orange undertone.
- Good pigmentation.
- Creamy and moisturizing.
- Travel friendly and color-coded packaging.
- Does not accentuate dry spots on the lips.
- No bleeding or feathering.
- Decent lasting power.
Cons of Revlon Poppy Ultra HD Lipstick:
- Packaging – the lipstick bullet does not swivel down completely.
- Quantity you get is lesser than a standard lipstick.
Do I Recommend Revlon Poppy Ultra HD Lipstick?
I love this colour as it a red which can be worn even to work without seeming over the top. I am also enjoying the moisturizing formula. Do try it if you are looking for a new red lipstick for regular use.
