My Experience with Revlon Primrose Ultra HD Lipstick:

Packaging:  The lipstick comes in a silver tube with a clear plastic cap. The cap fits tightly which makes it travel friendly. The shade name and number are printed on a sticker at the bottom of the tube, the color of the sticker being the same (more or less) as the lipstick color. This makes it easy to spot the color among your other lipsticks when stored with the label on top.

This packaging does have a big drawback. The lipstick bullet does not swivel down completely into the silver tube. This means that a good portion of the lipstick is still exposed when you are putting the cap back on, which is ripe for disaster! Unless you are very, very careful, you cannot avoid nicking the lipstick with the cap when you take it off or put it back on. I have seen this kind of packaging with the Wet n Wild or NYC lipsticks, which are just a few dollars each, but when Revlon has priced this lipstick for over CAD $10, I would expect better packaging. Moreover, the quantity you get is only 3 gm, as compared to the standard 4 gm.

Color:  Primrose is a beautiful pink with slight brown undertones, which is a good every day shade for many skin tones. It is a very flattering shade and appropriate for an office environment.

Pigmentation:  The HD lipstick range is supposed to be the upgraded version of Revlon’s lip butters. So, I was not expecting a strong pigmentation, especially with this shade. I was expecting it to be similar to Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, but surprisingly, the pigmentation is really good. You get an almost opaque coverage with one swipe. Two swipes gives a completely opaque color, even on my pigmented lips.

Scent:  The lipstick has a sweet candy-like scent, but you will not be able to smell it after application. I actually quite like the scent!

Texture:  Revlon describes this formula as a wax-free gel. It feels very slick and creamy when you apply it on your lips. It glides easily without any patchiness. It does not dry out the lips and feels quite comfortable and lightweight on the lips. I find the formula comparable to the Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks.

Finish:  This lipstick has a slightly glossy finish. The best thing about this lipstick for me is that it does not accentuate dry spots on the lips. This is the one lipstick I reached for the most during the cold winter months.

Staying Power:  Lasting power is quite average for this lipstick. I get about 3 to 4 hours with no eating, before it starts fading, but the lipstick fades evenly without looking patchy. Due to the creaminess, it does transfer quite a bit and will not be able to survive a meal. It does not leave any tint on the lips.

Pros of Revlon Primrose Ultra HD Lipstick:

  • Beautiful pink lipstick with mild brown undertones, which would flatter all skin tones.
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Creamy and moisturizing.
  • Travel friendly and color-coded packaging.
  • Does not dry out the lips.
  • Does not accentuate dry spots on the lips.

Cons of Revlon Primrose Ultra HD Lipstick:

  • Lasting power is average.
  • Packaging – the lipstick bullet does not swivel down completely.
  • Quantity you get is lesser than a normal lipstick.

IMBB Rating:

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Revlon Primrose Ultra HD Lipstick?
I love this color and formula. Though it needs to be reapplied after a few hours, I really don’t mind it due to how creamy this is. The packaging is an issue, but only until you use up, say 10% of the lipstick! I do hope they change the packaging, but the color and formula is definitely worth a try!
