Of late, I have suddenly fallen for “Super Lustrous” lipsticks by Revlon. If you read my reviews, you would know I have reviewed a lot of them like First Love, Coffee Break, and a couple of others, maybe in the Plumpsexxxy range as well, but I had never really loved them.
Then, one day, I think I saw a collective haul post on Youtube where there were at least six amazing gorgeous shades on display. So, I rushed to the Revlon counter and I saw those shades and they were even better in person. I totally fell for the shades like Mad About Mauve, Rose Nude, Sassy Muave, Berry Haute, and a few others in browns like Cocoa Sheer, most of these have been reviewed on IMBB.
Since I wanted an offbeat but a little darker shade because many of our readers would want to see more than just MLBB shades, I picked this one. I really wanted to pick up “Berry Haute,” but I thought it might be just too blue based for me and hence I did not.
These lipsticks come in frost, pearl and crème finishes and it is mentioned on the ridiculous sticker at the base of the lipstick. In the video that I saw, the lipsticks had a corresponding colored sticker at the base which was oh-so-pretty, but here in India, I am positive the quality and the sticker has been compromised; never mind, we have a huge market for lipstick wearers any day.
The shade “Blackberry” is crème and it’s a brick red, almost with some brown undertones. I totally loved bricks once upon a time and when I swiped this shade, I was amazed at how soft, pigmented and opaque this lipstick went on in one swatch, which is not the case with many of my other Super Lustrous lipsticks, which need to be rubbed over and over. Hence, I came to the conclusion that maybe the quality is compromised, but this one was a total hit because of the texture and the deep color which would lighten up any face.
If you like bricks, red or even browns, which are frost free 😛 and shimmer less and still have a moisture shine to them, you will love this shade. I like to blot it with tissue to mute it down, but if you can carry red, get this one. It really goes opaque in one swipe and the sheen it has is more than any “Moisture Shine” lipstick.
The issue is that since its so deep, it may bleed and you may want to line your lips for this one, even though its so deep. It still won’t stain, stays for a long time and fades beautifully. At the price of Rs. 550, I can see myself getting many more “Super Lustrous” lipsticks for sure in crème finishes.
I love the packing, I find it classic. The golden and black packing with a peep top. It clicks lock to perfection and I adore the range and shades available, one for everyone and all for me 😛
Though some of my “Super Lustrous” lipsticks need to be rubbed over and over, this one goes absolutely opaque and creamy. Gorgeous brick red with a sheen finish. I recommend this beauty. I wish they had colored stickers at the bottom.
