Stay in true style with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. Strike the best out of these products by choosing the most suitable color.
I have to admit that my association with Revlon goes long back when I was a teenager and all I could do is sigh at the pretty makeup my aunts and elder cousins had. One such brand was Revlon which was a major those days and of course a luxury. Revlon maybe a drugstore brand, but still I have seldom been attracted to Revlon probably because of the drab same old black casing and some red casing which goes back to my childhood for me.
Of late, if you have been reading my reviews, you would know that I had a rendezvous with Revlon and managed to pick up some good stuff like the Plumpsexxxy Lip Color and the 12-hour shadow. Now, I seriously feel Revlon’s quality is very mixed and I need to discover more of this brand to bring out the best and then stick to that range itself like the Plumpsexxxy Lip Color that I am very happy with.
Superlustrous from Revlon is a very old range and nothing new that I am sharing here, but I am sharing a nude shade I got for myself and I am liking it a lot. This shade in First Love that I got is an orange-based beige and almost nude color. This color hardly shows up on me which is fine but gives a pretty creamy definition to the lips. The finish is creamy matte and the color comes out a little orange-y brown on me.
My Experience with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – First Love 156:
Now for the texture, I am not impressed! I found the texture of this particular color very hard and thick and not so creamy considering they say “crème” at the back. I don’t know why, maybe its just this particular shade, but I had to swipe it on and on to get some color, plus its not creamy and not that kind where some kind of burst of color is released as soon as you swipe. Swipe it for a number of times and then a layer of matte color is formed.
The lipstick is not at all drying for me and stays put for two to three hours, and does transfer on cups, etc., three hours for this kind of color with fading evenly and leaving no stain behind is good for me.
Do I Recommend Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – First Love 156:
Please keep in mind that I am talking about Revlon Superlustorus Crème Finish lipstick in First Love only and this particular shade may be very different than most of the others in a lot of ways, say the pigmentation and finish. So, I am in a position to talk about this particular shade only as I don’t have many Superlustrous lipsticks.
Now, for this particular nude color if you ask me, then yeah, I would recommend the shade, but the texture is too hard and thick to deliver color well and you will need to swipe it over and over to get some color. I hoped the texture would be creamy soft and pigmented but it is not. I don’t say its terrible, but I was hoping for more for the price I paid. So all in all, if you like the shade, get it, but only if you are okay with the not-so-creamy texture, pick up Plumpsexxy range instead.
Last Word on Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – First Love 156:
For 525 rupees, it should have been softer and creamier. I totally love the color though, but yet, I am discovering more of Revlon goodies now, so stay tuned.
