Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color HD Forever Review

This review is on Revlon Ultra Matte HD in the shade “Forever.” I bought this after watching a youtuber recommend this as a dupe for Huda beauty’s liquid lipstick in Venus. I am always hunting for good n*de shades too, so I went ahead and picked it up.

My Experience with Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color HD Forever:

Color:  “Forever” is a mid-tone brownish pink color. On the hand, this swatch looks dark, but on the lips, it’s slightly lighter. On my tan skin, it looks light, a little lighter than my true MLBB shade. Nonetheless, I like this colour for days I want to keep it simple and also it pairs great with a smokey eye.

Packaging: I actually love the tube in which it comes, it’s a bit flat compared to other standard tubes. The tube is frosted and you can see the color of the product which is great for me to spot the shade in my makeup kit. The cap is silver and twist out. The applicator is my favourite though. It’s like a squarish flat hard sponge. I don’t know how else to describe it but the square shape is great for precise application and the flat part makes sure product goes on evenly. IF ONLY this was a fully matte liquid lipstick, I would have appreciated the applicator even more.

Texture: It’s supposed to be a liquid lipstick, but it is super creamy, feels more like a crème lipstick or a thick gloss. The name says “Ultra HD Matte,” but it doesn’t dry to fully matte. Actually, it doesn’t even dry down to semi-matte finish. They should have just named it lip cream/crème or something, that would have made more sense. When you apply though, it lays on thick because of the formula and it might feel too heavy to some. I take off some excess product from the wand before applying cause I don’t like how heavy it feels if I don’t. On the bright side, the creamy texture is pretty hydrating.

Pigmentation:  For the formula it has, the pigmentation is pretty strong. It delivers an opaque colour in one swipe, but since it is creamy and not full-on matte and also a light colour, it doesn’t cover pigmentation on the corners of my mouth. That annoys me but I cover it up with a lip liner.

Staying Power:  Since this is creamy and doesn’t dry down matte (it really annoys me that this doesn’t dry down matte), it doesn’t stay for more than 4 hours with snacks. It transfers so easily on everything, if you eat something its gone by at least 40%. It transferred onto my burger even. It fades evenly though, so I guess that’s good, but after 3-4 hours, you need to touch up. It’s too creamy to settle into fine lines or become patchy and it doesn’t leave a stain on the lip either.

I love the color and the applicator but I hate that the name which says “Ultra Matte HD” but it doesn’t dry down matte or last like a matte lipstick. It’s hydrating yes but it doesn’t last too long and my lifestyle doesn’t permit for constant touch ups. I don’t find myself reaching for it very often and there are other good n*des out there, so I won’t be repurchasing, but if you want something with a gloss-like consistency with good pigmentation, you could give this a try.
