Mascara: Rimmel Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara Review

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara Review

I’m sure many of us would be tempted to try a mascara specially which such a promising name. Tired of using my usual Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara, I decided I should give a try to other mascaras as well. Looking through all the stalls within the lifestyle makeup section my eyes fell on soo many different types of mascara from Rimmel. From Sexy Curves to the Volume Flash Bold Curves, Glam Eyes Lash Flirt to its Lycra Lash Extender, I must say Rimmel London has an amazing range of Mascaras. There’s something for everyone out there!! I mainly got attracted to see the mascaras because of their super cute packaging. After trying 2-3 mascaras from their collection I picked up this one in a hurry.

What Rimmel London says about its Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara?
Extra Super Lash mascaras – build-as-you-want length and volume with no clumping or clogging, and up to 12-hour wear – boasts a formulation that’s 100% waterproof. Vitamin E-enriched formula is a unique combination of lash-builders, film-formers, waxes and pigments that lengthen and separate the lashes at a stroke, then dry quickly to a smooth smudge-proof and flake-proof finish, thus creating an ideal base for the application of one or more extra coats.

My Experience with Rimmel London Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara
I actually am having a love-hate relationship with this mascara. The claims of lengthening & volumizing eyelashes to an extent of giving a look of dramatic eyelashes without clumping made me purchase this waterproof mascara. Initially I was really disappointed with this mascara because though it used to give a nice dramatic look it ending up leaving my eyelashes clumped. It does not leave a dramatic look in the first coat of application itself thus one has to apply 2-3 coats to achieve that look but unfortunately leads to clumping of lashes. Now I tend to apply only one coat of the mascara as it does not clump anymore after frequent usage but along with that it does not give me a dramatic look anymore as well. So I have come to a conclusion that this mascara will either leave you with a clumped dramatic eyelashes or just plain nice lengthened & volumized natural eyelashes.

What I like about Rimmel London Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara?

  • Suitable for sensitive eyes because of its unique formula
  • Ophthalmologically tested
  • Lives upto its claim of super lash separation
  • It really did lengthen my lashes giving it a nice curve
  • The brush is made up of a really good material not irritating the lashes & it is tapered at the end so easy to apply to tiny lashes as well.
  • Reasonably priced
  • Dries super quickly
  • I have literally showered with this mascara & it has still been intact for me!!
  • Does not smudge at all

Rimmel

I have applied this mascara on my upper lashes.

What I don’t like about Rimmel London Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara?

  • False claims of dramatic looking lashes.
  • Does not live upto its claims of volumizing lashes.
  • Not available in any color other than black so won’t be really suitable for people who have naturally colored lashes.
  • I wish the packaging of this mascara could be just as attractive in terms of shape & color as other Rimmel mascaras are.

Would I repurchase Rimmel London Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara?
I have had really bad experiences with so many mascaras previously. This is not my HG mascara but definitely best amongst the lot of the mascaras I have tried. I will keep repurchasing & using this mascara as it’s amazing for day to day basis until I find my HG mascara

My Rating:- :star: :star: :star: + 0.5

  2. You have very bootiful eyes, Insiya. :lashes: :lashes:

I do like volumizing mascaras more than the lengthening ones. I agree that it doesn’t give enough volume to your lashes but it does separate your lashes very nicely. no clumps nuffing..

    Enjoyed reading the post. 🙂

I have been a die hard fan of Revlon Fabulash waterproof mascara, which to my dismay I left at my hometown, during my last visit to home in June 😕 😕 :-(( ..I really loved it. And now I am using Essence waterproof volume mascara, which is really amazing. Do you get Essence products there? I don’t know if Essence has any products in India!! ?:-) ?:-) ?:-)

  5. Ya.. I agree with Gia. I have Maybelline colossal mascara.. Its really good. It lengthens the lashes and gives a dramatic look as well.. But clumps a little if u apply 2 -3 coats.. I dont think we get this brand here in chennai 🙁

@ Insiya.. U have got Pretty Eyes 🙂

    1. Apply it when it’s wet
and work with one eye first 😀
      it dries up really quick
      so apply 2 coats ASAP
      and you’re done 😉 😉

      I AM JUST WAITING TO BUY THE MAXFACTOR ONE 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 yeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! 😛

  6. Apart from that, I have read many reviews of mascaras, where people get clumped lashes at end, even for Revlon and MAC mascaras thereby leading to breaking of lashes. I usually prevent getting clumped results by applying small amount of lip balm over the lashes and then cleaning it off with cotton dabbed with some rosewater. After that you can apply primer and concealer and other make up stuff over your eyes.
Somehow, that has always worked for me!.. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. cali where do you get such amazing ideas from? :sidefrown: :sidefrown:
So i am going to try applying vaseline on my lashes and will take it off with a cotton pad now 😀

Ya nowadays my mascara makes my lashes clump 😮 😮
      aaargh!

and oh you were the one who had told me to clean the wand of the mascara with the oil right ? 😀
      .-= giasaysthat´s last blog ..Whats in my PURSE-BAG =-.

      1. yuppp… 😀 😀 ..I do it every month. I am really particular about my lashes, coz my heart breaks into pieces whenever any of my lash breaks, especially when it happens because of bad mascara.. :pissedoff: :pissedoff: ….Usually your lashes will break whenever they become too dry, and mascara will clump your lashes only when it becomes dry on your lashes and starts sticking.

The mascara brush gets contents accumulated and dried out over the time, because of which application becomes weird, gives you clumpy eye lashes and even leads to breaking!! Hence you should clean it well every month with olive oil or almond oil (I prefer olive oil coz it is thick and works really well)…

Applying vaseline or small amount of moisturizer or eye cream over the lashes will help keep your lashes hydrated, and they wont clump much even if your mascara gets dried up on them!!!  ..

And these ideas come from self-experimentation!! 😛 😛 😛 ..he he he!!

        1. cal ii just finished doing it 😀
the cotton sort of got stuck on the brush
but then i added a bit of water to the cotton.
the brush sort of became yellow
maybe it is the natural color 😀 of the brush and it’s super clean now 😀
